According to Roach, nurses should be
committed to their service by two
ways. Firstly they should be committed
to the patient and secondly they
should be committed to the service.
• While engaging in any decision
making for the patient nurses
should engage the patients and the
family members(Zhang, 2019).
• As per the principle 3 nurses should
maintain cultural competence
during care provision and this is
directly shows their commitment
towards the patient(NMBA ,2020).
• Nurses should always try to
promote the health and wellbeing
for patients.
To execute the professional
commitments nurses should
• Involve in education as teachers for
enrolled and student nurses
• Take initiatives for researches to
improve the theories and
techniques to serve patients
• Maintain the legal compliances
• Should improve their own
knowledge and skills by opting for
higher education.

Compassion and NMBA Codes of conducts
In a therapeutic relationship the nurse is delicate to a
person’s condition and persistently involves with them
using understanding and assistances in respect,
compassion and benevolence(Kourakos et al., 2018).
According to the Roach’s 6C’s theory, compassion is
very much related to empathy.
• Patient-centered practice is collaborative and
reverent association put up on mutual trust and
cooperation through effective communication
(principle 2)(NMBA, 2020).
• Nurses should be empathetic to the patient to
some extent in delivering the patient centered care.
• Compassionate nature of nurse help the patient to
rely on her or him(Bradshaw,2016).
• A nurse should be sensitive to a patient’s situation
and engages them with compassion and kindness to
make a firm bonding and rapport between them.
• In the relationship the patient’s rights and dignity
must be prioritized and respected(as per principle 4
of NMBA code of conduct)(NMBA,2020).
