Inadequate support for teachers in schools
The term ‘common good’, when it comes to philosophy, economics as well as political
science has been defined from various angles. It is highly crucial to mention here that the
concept of the common good is one of the 9 Catholic Social Thoughts principles. According to
philosophers, factors that are shared as well as are beneficial for the majority of the members in a
given community can be considered as a common good (Collins & Halverson, 2018). According
to researchers, the concept of common good, it varies in a significant way amongst philosophical
doctrines. The purpose of this opinion editorial is to explore the social dimensions associated
with the concept of common good.
According to the principle of participation, it is believed that each and every individual
possess the tight as well as duty to participate in the society along with seeking together the
common good and wellbeing of each and every individual, especially the poor and vulnerable of
the society. Without adequate participation from the society members, the benefits that are
available to them through any kind of social institution cannot be realized. As per the
participation principle, the concept of work is not confined to making a living but can be
considered as a form of continuation of participating in the creation of the God (Grabowski,
Gruber & Angelelli, 2008). In case the dignity associated with the work needs to be protected, it
is highly crucial to provide adequate support as well as respect to the workers along with the
right to obtain fair wage, organize as well as join union, to possess the private property and to the
economic initiate.
In this paragraph, a detailed discussion on how the effort of the public, private, non for
profit agencies, faith-based group as well as I, as a nurse can enhance the realization of the

incorporate a non-discriminatory vision both to its consumers as well as employees. According
to the Roman Catholicism, the concept of the common good is an idea that may possess utility in
analyzing the ethical as well as moral issues that can affect the care of vulnerable patient groups.
However, the same principle justifies that the common good cannot be achieved at an expanse of
individuals or vulnerable group within a specific community. In the nursing profession, common
goo is considered to be an impetus for action. The service provided by the nurses are supportive
to the common good while this profession does not necessarily address the concept of common
good from the theological perspective, it definitely addresses associated concepts with common
good that includes concern for the health of individual in the community irrespective of their age,
gender, and other factors and distributive justice. This profession also addresses the need for
balancing the presentation of individual dignity as well as respect against the interiority of the
society,
However, the fact that a good number of challenges are faced by the nurses while opting
for the common good cannot be ignored. For instance, lack of support from the community
members can be considered as one of the chief issues face in the nursing profession (Christie,
Gunton & Hejnowicz, 2019). Along with this, ethical misconduct is another major issue that acts
as another major challenge for the nurse. For instance, in several areas discrimination is being
demonstrated and patients from indigenous communities are not treated equally compared to
nonidegenous people.
In this paragraph, a global issue where shared responsibility for the common good is not
being realized has been discussed. One of the major concerns associated with common good is
the lack of support for teachers in schools. According to researchers, in the majority of the

underdeveloped countries and developing countries like Africa, the rate of education is low to a
great extent. One of the chief reasons behind this is lack of support to the school teacher from
both the end of the government as well as from society (Carmella, 2018). In remote areas,
teachers lack enough physical resources that are required to provide quality education. The lack
of employment opportunities as well as career prospect is resulting in a lack of human resources
in the academic sectors (Kowalsky, 2016). In order to deal with this challenge a more integrated
approach on the basis of sound ethical and moral foundations. This is true even among those who
focus on the measurement of learning achievement in school education.
