In an analogous view mentioned by the article here, it is indeed a point of deep
consideration that a nurse’s role and its importance in the society is increasing day by day,
especially when we talk about influx and efflux of populations across the world. According to
the United Nations, the current world population is 7.6 billion and it would reach around 8.6
billion by 2030 ("World Population Prospects: The 2017 Revision | Multimedia Library - United
Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs", 2019). It can be inferred that the growing
population would need growing healthcare professionals. Therefore, accessibility to public
healthcare units and healthcare professionals like physicians, practicing nurses and paramedics is
an important aspect globally. The under developing countries like Afghanistan, Niger, and
Liberia as mentioned have higher rates of people, who are attacked with preventable diseases
every day. Furthermore, it is mentioned by the World Health Organization that, the
environmental factors, like unsafe water, lead exposure, unintentional poisoning which is faced
by the developing as well as under developing countries causes 25% of diseases, disabilities, and
deaths in a global level. ("WHO | Environment and health in developing countries", 2019). The
limited resources in a country can also cause health deprivation and malnutrition, these resources
include proper infrastructures like roads, nursing homes, clinics and clean availability of water.
In inclusion to the improper health conditions, the poverty and poor living condition can also add
to the lower educational qualifications rates which could lead to economic deprivation, low
awareness about the diseases and symptoms, limited employment and hence (Mitra, Posarac &
Vick, 2013), reduced growth in the development of a nation.
