Organizing the day
The success of a day is dependent on early planning. As an in charge, I would plan my
day by allocating duties on time in the department. This also calls for communication to those
with duties in a day to be aware. This prevents confusion. I also would ensure a smooth handing
over of reports from the night shift nurses to the day nurses. This demand for counterchecking
for clear and proper documentation.
The unit also should be arranged. This ensures orderliness. The documents about patients
will be easier to retrieve. An organized unit also ensures that proper nurses and doctors' ward
rounds take place (Pryss et al. 2015).
Leadership style
I would adopt a democratic leadership skill. This is where I will allow everyone to give their
views before making a final decision. This will ensure that my staff will feel included in critical
decision making. A good relationship will also be built.

I would adopt the bureaucratic management technique. This will allow the use of ideas such as;
division of labor, authority hierarchy and use of formal rules and regulations (Cockerham, 2015).

Nursing is a complex field. Although individuals can provide care on their own,
teamwork is an asset. Teamwork ensures time management since work is equally divided among
the staff. There will also be a good patient care outcome because a common goal is being worked
on by every individual. There will also be pride in the final positive patient care outcome.
Accountability is a discipline I should have. I will be accountable for every activity in my
unit, every material and also be answerable to any managerial unit. Through team building, every
team leader will be answerable to me as the in-charge for every action they do. By so doing, my
staff will be accountable.
