Introduction
Research over a subjected topic requires intense research procedure which is focused on
incurring information which is relevant, accurate and fast to deliver a definite conclusion and
solution to the research question. The survey is also a very important tool of the research process
which helps in deriving effective knowledge which can help the research in articulating a
significant conclusion of the research. In the present research on the internet usage, there will be
a survey which will be conducted in Nusa to their people due to lack of finance and time
resources the research is cut down to only 1% of the total population in the city which estimates
1200 people. All of this respondent will have to answer a pre-made questionnaire which then will
be sampled and analyzed to know the results and derive an effective conclusion. The assessment
will demonstrate the methods and procedures which will be undertaken by the research to
conduct the following research.
a) Explaining how you intend to select the sample to ensure it is representative
of the population
The survey is a very fast and accurate quantitative measure through which data can be analyzed
in order to derive information from a large number of respondents. It can be said that in the
current scenario the number of respondents is 1200 which also a large number of respondent
hence there is need of proper sampling and sample differentiation in order to make sure there is
effective research done on the subjected topic. Now the topic here is the internet Usage in Nusa
where 1/3rd of the population is 18 to 30 the total population is 120,000 which means 40,000
people within the city are of age 18-30. Hence, the age groups of people are the most common
users of the internet and this why 400 out of 1200 in the selected population will represent the
age group of this range. Now other than this age groups there will be other age groups as well
which will be included in the research. Hence the sampling will be done on the basis of age
groups. Since, age group is one of the biggest factors which affect the survey here the samples
will be sampled in accordance with their age group. The sampling here will be done in a
scientific manner to make sure that every age group are represented within the survey data
analysis which will ensure an effective survey and research procedure. In this way, there will be
an evident procedure through which the following research process will be conducted.

In the current scenario of the survey it is important that every sample represents the population in
an equal manner and for this purpose, the Random Sampling method will be used which will
ensure that all the samples get an equal chance to represent there the population of samples.
Random Sampling comes under the probability sampling method in which the sample is selected
on the concept of random selection and then ensures that every population of samples have some
representative which makes it clear and specific by not making the sampling process biased to
any one set of data and samples. Through the use of a random sampling process, there is a
chance the research can take out samples which are the most relevant from the accessible
population based on which analysis is conducted. In this way, every population and set of
samples are represented in a prominent way making the sampling process accurate to make a
significant conclusion which will give out information which is equally represented by each of
the samples within the overall population.
b) Suggesting research questions for the study
In order to conduct the survey, three questions have been taken as the research questions to

3. What is the Purpose of the internet usage?
In the above, there are three questions which have been selected as a research question. All the
three questions will be discussed one after another in order to show the importance of the three
questions.
In the first question meaning of the internet usage has been asked. The internet usage means the
amount of the internet based on bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes or terabytes which has
been used or which is used in the given geographical location known as Nusa Island. It has been
seen in the research that 80% of the population of Nusa Island are the internet user in their
everyday life. Whether people are playing online games or whether the students are taking
information for their assignments or projects or whether someone is surfing the internet the
internet generates usage.
The second question is based on the benefits of the usage of the internet. There are many benefits
of using the internet. In olden times it was not possible to see your friends or families who are

staying far away from you for work or for studies. With the advancement of modern technologies
and with the help of the internet now the people can communicate with the help of Social media.
People can now see their friends and relatives and can talk to them live with the Help of video
call no matter wherever they are in the world. Previously letters were sent to someone who used
to arrive after a long period of time but now with the help of text Messages and electronic mails
messages are sent within a second. By sitting at home people
Can now able to learn and explore the different things in the world. Globalization has also been
introduced by the help of the internet. Another benefit of the internet usage is marketing which
The businessman does in order to advertise their brands or companies. With the help of the
internet usage, things have become much easier nowadays, people can buy stuff online, start up
something new and also can earn money with the help of the internet usage.
The third question of this survey is the purpose of the internet usage. Generally, the internet is
used purposefully by various people depending on various professions. Students use the internet
for gathering information regarding their subjects of in some specific field. The researcher used
the internet to conduct research. The purpose of the internet usage is to provide proper and
detailed information to the people who are in need of it. Many policies are there for using the
internet which is a legal way of using the internet. With the help of the internet, a person gets
useful information regarding their particular topics. People use the internet for various purposes
relating to teaching, some use the internet for business purpose, some use the internet to save
their time and sometimes the internet is also used for the purpose of spreading peace or
destruction. The purpose of the internet usage is depending on their way of utilizing it. The main
purpose for using the internet by most of the people is to collect information and to learn new
things from it.
c) Naming demographic variables you would include in your study
The survey is done on the Nusa Island where 80% of the population are using the internet. To
Conduct this survey there are three demographic variables which has been taken. They are as

i) Age- In this survey age has been selected as one of the demographic factors to show that the
survey is done unbiased without any diversified age. From the age group it is possible to collect
data. By making a chart regarding the internet usage of people from various ages it can be clear

that how much data is used by what age groups. Age group should be divided with a gap of five
years. For instance if a data is collected from the age 18-23 which is a age for high school and
college students it will be easier to know the amount of data used by them.
Similarly if another age group is taken for example from the age of 25-40 which is the age of
working people then the internet usage of this age group will be easily tracked. From the age
group it can be identified that how much data is used by school students, college students,
working people etc.
ii) Location- Location has been also taken as one of the demographic variables in order to check
that whether the data which is being using constantly is from Nusa island or not. The question
arises that whether the people who are using the internet are the real inhabitants of Nusa or not?
To answer this question the location survey has been taken as one of the demographic variables.
The location demographic variable is helpful to collect the exact information about the internet
usage. The geographical location also helps to understand the basic need of the internet for the
particular region. From the location it is easy to understand that how the people of the selected
geographical location utilize the internet and in what amount in their everyday life. Thus the
location is important for conducting a survey based on the internet usage in the Nusa Island.
iii) Gender – Another most important demographic variable is the Gender. The gender variable
has been selected in order to keep the research free from any biases. Among the total population
there is 75% male and 25% females so the survey will be conducted through the help of both
male and female. No biases will be there because the research will take the help of male and
female. The question might arise that is the survey only done with the help of male residents it
can be said that gender is important in the survey because the usage of the internet from both the
gender perspective should be known giving a fairer view on the subjected research topic.

Other than the demographic question there are some informative question which are as follows:
1. Frequency of the internet usage: this question has been made to ensure that the internet
usage done by the population is known through the information in relation of frequency
of use the internet. Through knowing the frequency of usage the likelihood of respondent
using the internet can be known in an efficient manner. This will help the researcher in
knowing the amount which the internet is being used by the resipent helping in over
analysis of the subjected topic.
2. Average hour per day: Now this question the researcher has aimed at knowing the time
and hrs at which the internet is consumed by an individual respondent. Through this
question the amount of usage of the internet can know which will help in knowing on
whether the individual at using the internet for 1 to 4 hours. This will determine on what
is average time in which the internet is used by a respondent.

at knowing the preferences of each respondent while conducting on using the internet.

hence this question was very important to know on whether the respondent know about
the safety measure which are there to prevent problem from online and internet activity.

8. Benefits of the internet: Through this question the researcher has made sure to know on
what are the possible benefits which the respondent receives from online and internet
usage and what are the best services which internet provides them. This will help in
knowing the benefits of internet and on what level this can be used as an advantage by an
individual for operations which can be any type and nature5.
9. Worst things of internet: Through this inquiry the specialist has tried to know on what
are the conceivable burdens which the respondent gets from on the web and web
utilization and what are the most noticeably awful administrations which web gives them.
This will help in knowing on top what level internet is bad and what are the precautions

will be conducted in an unbiased manner to produce an unbiased research report. The
