It highlights the common challenges such as the weakening of the immune system, poor wound healing, muscle weakness, and decreased bone mass, which can increase the risk of falls and fractures. The report mentions that the nutritional needs of older adults often involve an increased intake of certain nutrients, despite a decline in metabolic rate and energy requirements per body weight. The report references several sources, including books and journals, to support the analysis of nutritional issues and dietary requirements for older adults, emphasizing the importance of addressing these needs to maintain health and well-being. The report also mentions the importance of adequate nutrition to prevent malnutrition, a common concern among the elderly population.
