Introduction:
Considering the rapid growth of technology it is identified that information technology
has effectively influenced the services and the performances of the organization by improving
their productivity as well as the service accuracy. Followed by this concern it is also identified
that the incorporation of information technology into the organizational infrastructure helps to
enhance stakeholders management as well as improves the customer engagement strategies.
Based on these identification this paper has aimed to discuss about the influence of the
information technology or the information system into the organizational infrastructure. In order
to support the above discussion it will also cover an interview with the digital head of Oasis
Fashion. And later the paper will also consist a critical analysis on the strategies and the
initiatives of the CIO and then there will a discussion on the pros and cons of the selected
themes.
Themes and views of the selected interview:
The digital head of the Oasis Fashion is Helena Theakstone. Oasis fashion is a retailer of
various boutiques. In her interview, she described that a business can meet the customer
requirement only when the business utilize modern technology. The digital head of the
organization also suggested that their organization require high maintenance as well as
governance of the information systems [1]. This allow the business to know the key requirements
of the customers as well as allow the business to increase the quality of their services or
products. The primary theme that can be drawn from the selected interview is that the customers
of the concerned business are threatened regarding their sensitive information. The business
requires these information to provide their services and products efficiently and effectively. The

customers are threatened with the confidentiality of their sensitive data. In the interview, Helena
Theakstone recommended that every business should secure the customer data such that their
business is not exploited by any way. According to her, the customers provide their data
depending on the reputation and services of the businesses. Thus, any sort of data leakage can
hamper a business in huge amount. The business can develop its performance by securing the
sensitive information from the threatful cyber criminals [2]. This should be looked after by the IT
department of various organizations where the departments implement and use various
techniques to secure the data as well as use some policies and regulations to keep their data
secure. In this context, Theakstone was assisting her firm to use EU’s General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR). This was implemented on 24th May 2018. GDPR introduces innovative
obligations for the organization which directly associated with the storage and processing of the
data. According to the interview, business requires high coordination among the IT team and the
digital team which allow the organization to follow the trending market situation as well as help
the business to improve their service quality. The business should be transparent in this modern
world and they should be upfront with the data which they require to conduct their daily
operations [3]. Moreover, the staffs of the technical and IT team should be highly skilled such
that they can efficiently answer to the technical queries of the customers. The queries of the
customers should be known in an efficient such that the business can clarify all the queries
quickly. The view of the digital head of the concerned business to develop the business
performance through gathering more trust of the customers by securing their data. The theme of
the chosen interview is developing the management of the information system by bringing all
necessary changes following the rules and regulations of the business.

IT History of the Organization before the interview:
The concerned business was adopting the cloud services before the interview. There was
a low interaction between the digital and IT department before the interview. The customers
faced difficulties in buying their services on demand due to the absence of the decentralized
procurements. The concerned business wished to adopt the decentralization methods in their
daily operations. Initially, the business was not utilizing the legal department of the government
rather Oasis was operating as law firm namely, FieldFisher which guaranteed governance and
compliance in the business. The service providers faced high difficulty regarding the data
policies and the higher management was not aware of these difficulties. The services of the
concerned was not satisfactory for the concerned business as well as it failed to meet the
customer requirements [4]. The business also faced deficiency in auditing the business reports
which could allow them to analyze the requirements of their customers. Moreover the business
did not had any sort of customer relationship management software. The decisions were taken
hastily which disallowed the business to implement modern technology in their workplace. The
business was yet operating with the traditional information centers which comprised of numerous
hardware and they were connected by the insecure network [5]. Therefore, all these problem
integrally disallowed the business growth for the Oasis fashion.
Explanation of the Themes and recent IT history of the Company:
The primary objective of this interview was to bring creativeness into the customer
services of the nominated company. Followed by this concern the digital head of this company
has expressed her interest towards improving the customer services of the company with
government collaboration. The digital head has also mentioned that protecting the user data can
become a major point which could help in improving the reputation of the company. While

discussing these aspect the company has decided to implement cloud computing into their
organizational infrastructure. Considering this initiative it can be stated that the collaboration
with the cloud computing into the organization holds significance towards improving the
customer management services of the company [9]. According to several research it is identified
that cloud computing is highly acceptable for the organizations due to scalability features as this
feature of cloud computing reduces the unnecessary cost of the business.
While analyzing the business structure it is identified that the business structure of Oasis
Fashion has mostly focused on protecting the customer data and has also intended to process
those data with the purpose to draw betterment into their business infrastructure. Followed by a
thorough investigation it is also identified that in real world there are several organization who
are suffering with IT policies within their organization thus, it is also very essential to
incorporate organizational specific IT policies that could help the organization to protect their
organizational data. Along with these aspect it is very visible many small firms like Oasis always
opt for the adoption of cloud computing as this solution is less complex to implement as well as
highly cost effective that reduces the extra expenses of the firm. As it is already mentioned that
during the interview with the digital head of the company he has mentioned that customer
service is now the first priority hence, it is decided to incorporate GDP rules as well as the
regulations with the purpose to protect the user data. Along with protecting the user data it is also
very essential to provide best services to the user which will improve the customer satisfaction of
Oasis fashion.
Strategic view of the CIO:
After analyzing the information gathered from the conducted interview it is identified that
the CIO has clearly mentioned that the company needs to focus on the betterment of the

customer services of the company. Followed by this concern it is identified that the digital head
has also mentioned that they need to collaborate the government data privacy law and regulation
with the purpose to protect the user data. Along with this aspect it has been identified that in the
organizational infrastructure of Oasis Fashion the incorporation of the General Data Protection
Regulation will help the company to enhance its services. Along with this while analyzing the
intention of the digital head it is observed that she is very serious about her decisions and
activities as she has mentioned during the interview that data governance is the primary concern
in this company that needs to be addressed for sure.
Considering these identification it is identified that concentration on data protection is
very essential in this case as the CIO and its strategies has mostly highlighted the privacy of the
user data present in the organizational infrastructure. Along with the data governance department
it is also identified that she also works with non IT department as well as the marketing
department. Thus, while focusing on these departments it is identified that these departments are
increasing the overall operational cost of the nominated organization. While considering these
aspect the CIO has initiated a join approach by using the cloud computing infrastructure rather
than using cloud for only one purpose. Making allowance to this concern it is identified that she
has also mentioned a clear statement that there is no problem if cloud computing will be utilized
for the overall organizational benefits however, the primary target should not get compromised
with this adoption as it is mentioned earlier that data privacy is the main objective behind this
project. Followed by these incorporations, after completion of the interview several other
channels has been incorporated into it which includes social media as well as other plans to
improve the communication within the organization.

Positive and Negative points of the Selected Interview:
After completion of the discussion on the strategies made by the CIO of the nominated
firm several pros and cons has been observed which holds a major impact on the services of the
organization. As it is identified that the digital head has taken an initiative towards enhancing the
data privacy, design as well as the digital marketing. Hence, it can be stated that these initiatives
will help to meet the basic business values of the organization. Along with this since, she has
opted for such strategies where the data protection is one of the most essential element that has
the capabilities to improve the services of the organization. Apart from these benefits it is also
identified that in the operational strategy time is one of biggest limitation. Since, the strategy
includes multi-dimensional approaches thus, it will be very difficult to implement this into the
organizational infrastructure [10].
Issues in managing Information systems:
The primary issues faced while managing the information systems are mentioned below
[6]:
 Deficiency of the appropriate strategy: Each and every business should prepare an
appropriate strategy before implementing any kind of information system in their
workplace. According to the rules and regulation of the concerned business the
information systems are not updated to their latest versions.
 Deficiency in integrating the IT and digital departments: A business can meet the
customer requirements only after integrating its IT and digital departments. This help the
business to know all the key requirements of the customers as well as allow the business
to develop its performance.

Therefore, from the upper discussions it can be concluded that the customers can be
provided with better services only after strategically implementing and managing the
information systems [7]. The concerned business is going to use the principles of GDPR such
that it can provide satisfactory services to its clients. The achievement or the success of the
digital head can be measured by the decisions taken by her in the business change. The
implementation of the GDPR principle can benefit the customers of Oasis fashion in
numerous ways like portability of their data, achieving consent, right for accessing their data
and so on. Moreover the business can free itself from paying needless fines to the
government. The implementation of GDPR principles can be implemented by following
some success story of the GDPR implementation in various businesses. The positive and
negative areas was also discussed above which help the digital head of the business to
improve the quality of the services for the customers [8]. The firm can develop itself as a
cloud based organization by following these mentioned steps:
1. Analyzing whether the chosen device can run on cloud platform or not.
2. Availability of sufficient technical support from the departments of the business.
3. Analyzing the details of the cloud infrastructure.
4. Analyzing the budget required for implementing the cloud platform in the business
