different layers with a single click made on the data elements and using similar windows for
visualization. From the user perspective the drill down is present with the GUI where the user
can click on the representation of data for reaching to the final level (Moussa, Haddad &
Bejaoui, 2018). The drill down is present in most of the computer system where the users can
click on a folder for finding the specific location and similar practice is used for webpage for
navigating to the deeper level. The business reporting tools also make the use of drill down
reports for enabling the capability to use the aggregated value and reveal exact level in the
hierarchy. The data that is essential for answering questions can be found.
The data can be displayed in different ways eliminating the need of creation for
dashboard and reports and it can be used for digging various layers without navigating to
visualization and analyse the data visually (Notarnicola et al., 2017). The data of different
layers can be viewed and enables garnering data rapidly. The performance of the server can
be improved with the application of drill down by displaying single layer of data at a time
period and reducing the user query.
Identification and discussion of the drill down
Drill down repot is important for implementation of a different interactive
functionality in the developed information system. Self-service analytics can be used for
setting up business intelligence and provides the non-technical users the ability to create and

The complex database structure and their names is needed to be replaced with the layers of
metadata for the creation of information business view.
The functionality of the drill down is applicable to the business view for defining drill
down functionality report. It also helps in defining the hierarchy for the data related with each
other and different formulas can be used for fetching data without any format and
structuration. The hierarchy is defined such that the report utilizing the business view can be
utilized for enabling the drill down functionality (Wallace et al., 2017). The application of the
drill down also saves the time of development if it is compared with generating codes with
manual coding.
Permission is defined for enabling self-service and management of security needs in
the information system development. The integration of single sign technology helps in
managing internal permission and develop the university enrolment system with the details of
all of the system. The data that is not needed to be displayed to all of the user is identified and
manipulated such that a relationship between the database hierarchy is maintained. In the
condition for the student enrolling with the information system the course details are needed
to be available to the user and the student can view the other available information after
