AI Summary
This assignment analyzes a personal experience of a bioreaction, focusing on the student's reaction to a perceived threat in a social situation. The student describes the environment, the stimulus that triggered the reaction, and the physical and emotional responses experienced. The analysis includes the 'fight or flight' response, physical sensations like sweating and a racing heartbeat, and the feelings before, during, and after the event. Furthermore, the assignment explores what the student would do differently in a similar situation to navigate the reaction more successfully and reflects on the importance of managing such reactions. The assignment highlights the role of the amygdala in triggering these responses and emphasizes the importance of emotional agility in leadership and social interactions.

QVP Task 1: Observing Bioreactions 2
1) I remember it was on Sunday night around 10.00 PM where I was heading home from
the store to buy some milk and snacks for my friends who had come over to visit at
our home. As I was walking along the pavement near our neighborhood, the street
lights started to deem slowly and all over a sudden two men holding machetes- like
items appeared about thirty meters near our gate rushing towards me.
2) One of them shouted ‘Hit it!’pointing the machete towards me. I could not see clearly
what he was pointing, but I was absolute they were aiming at me.
3) Immediately, I ran across the street and jump over a two-meter wooden fence into one
of our neighbor's homestead. I then rush directly to their doorstep and started ringing
the bell continuously screaming and shouting for help. I could hear the two men
shouting but I did not comprehend what they were saying.
4) My heart was beating furiously and my whole body was sweating. I lost the bag I was
holding during the incident in a way I did not understand. My whole body was
trembling with fear of which I almost urinate on myself.
5) Luckily, my neighbor opened the door at which I rushed in. At that point, I could not
speak for about two minutes. My neighbor kept asking me what was wrong but I did
not respond. After three to five minutes I started explaining what has just happened.
After that, my neighbor called 911 and began to assure me the police will arrive soon
and that I should stay calm. He started explaining to me that probably the two men I
saw were the newly moved neighbors who worked at the woodcraft down the street.
Surprisingly, when he moved out to confirm my story, he found the two newly moved
neighbors standing at his gate. They explained they had seen a snake around the

corner when coming from late night duty from the woodcraft store. They came into
the house apologizing stating that they were trying to explain to me earlier but I could
not stop. That is when I realized I have misjudged the situation, and I was only
frightened. After that, I become calm and headed back to our house at which I took a
cold shower as a way of relaxing myself.
6) Looking back to that incident, I was experiencing a bioreaction which I never did
before. I was frightened which made me do things I never thought I could have done
including jumping over a two-meter fence. Some of the most physical sensations I
experienced included sweating, strong heartbeats and trembling. If I ever experience
such a scenario in the future, first I will try to listen to what the strangers are saying in
order to determine what kind of situation I am in. Secondly, I would try not to rush
into conclusions and look carefully where I am running to avoid heading to areas that
can put me into more dangers like rushing across the street and jumping over the
fence. By remaining calm, a person is able to make reasonable choices and seek help
only when it is needed.
