Introduction
The Research Issue (identify the “general” area of research concern)
Occupational safety and health is a discipline that deals to prevent the work associated with
the disease and injuries, and the protection as well as the promotion of healthy employees.
The aim of occupational safety and health is the enhancement of working condition as well as
the environment. Occupational health considers the promotion as well as maintenance of a
higher extent of physical as well as mental health with social well-being of employees in all
occupation. Along with this, occupational health and safetyhave currently become much
higher precedence in terms of growing evidence of loss as well as suffering caused due to
occupational disease with ill-health across different employment areas. There is a concern to
the managerat least partly due to gaining a number of deaths as well as accidents occurring at
the workplace (Baxter, et. al., 2015).
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is a multifaceted field where, an individual can
interact with larger business spectrum as well as, it is related to their interests and concerns.
OHS is confined to outside of HRM in which, its role, impact as well as, importance is
unnoticed. The key issue of the company in current times is how to enlist the mind and hearts
of all their workforces. Along with this, occupational exposures involve physiological,
ergonomic as well as psychosocial factors are considered in current working atmospheres.
These factors individually and several complex integrations can threaten the safety and health
to employees and decline the productivity as well as well-being (Hammer, et. al., 2016).
The above aspects are related to evidence that an output of an individual moderately relies on
the state of health and gratitude of concept regarding OHS. It is becoming essential for
success of the company.

Healthy working atmospheres, as well as health at work, are among the valuable resources of
communities, countries, individuals, and companies. Along with this, occupational safety and
health is a significant strategy that is not only making sure the health and safety of
employees, but also contributing favorably to the products quality, productivity, job
satisfaction, as well as works motivation. Consequently, overall quality of life regarding the
person as well as, society can be improved. Virtually all workforces at the workplace are
affected due to occupational health and safety for better or worse (Landy, and Conte, 2016).
Woolworths limited has created guidelines, policies, and initiative regarding occupational
health and safety that are implemented and applied in across the board to all workforces. The
company is committed to success and excellence in the energy sector via motivation kitty
awarded to best performing departments and workforces. This company has occupational
safety and health initiative that has been intended to address the employee’s performance.
But, from the statutory safety and health audit report shows that work-related illness,
accidents, and injuries have gained between technical employees. There are challenges in
terms of executing the occupational health and safety initiatives (Jinnett, et. al., 2017).
Increasing health care cost is led to conflict among requirement of the company to push for
gained efficiency and output and the requirement of workforces to be protected from
accidents and hazards in the working place. There are different studies have conducted on
occupational safety and health practices, approaches and compliance regarding productivity
and performance of the company and their findings have developed that occupational health
and safety improve the organizational performance (Flammer, and Luo, 2017).
But, none of the investigation conducted has linked the association among the occupational
safety and health to employee’s performance, particularly in the retail sector. This
