INTRODUCTION
Occupational and safety refers to the field related with health, welfare and safety of
people that are working in the organisation. There are various types of hazards like physical,
chemical, ergonomic etc. Duty of care means the legal responsibility of the individual regarding
safety of people working in the premise. Memorandum is a business document that helps to bring
attention of the people regarding problems and how to solve them (Butler, 2018) .

SUBJECT – The use of computers in the workplace and Occupational Health and Safety
(OHS).
Victorian 2004 Act
Our organisation is committed for providing healthy working environment to all the employees.
Electronic devices like computers play an important role in accomplishing the tasks in timely,
effective and efficient manner. From last two weeks various Health and Safety issues are
emerging due to use of electronic device at the workplace. Employees that are working at lower
level of management in the company are using computer for preparing reports and to complete
other tasks. Further more than 10 employees have experienced health and safety issues due to
use of computer such as joint pain, injury to hand etc. Other than this, 4-5 workers are suffering
from Repetitive Strain Injury, migraines etc.
Employer and employees both are responsible for duty of care regarding safe use of computers
at workplace. All the workers and management should be expected to fulfil their responsibilities
as provided under Victorian 2004, Act. “Good safety is good for business and also for the
community”(Debeljak, 2017). It is the duty of employer to maintain safety of employees
related with use of computer . Management should take measures to promote safety of
employees by implementing different strategies. “To win in the market place you must first
win in the workplace” (Ironside, 2017).

Further, strategies should be developed to promote health and safety of the employees at the
workplace.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded that, memorandum is an important skill that helps to convey
information to other people. Victorian Act, 2004 states that, employer should make efforts to
provide safe working environment to all the people that are working in the organisation.
Organisation should take measures for solving the issues related with use of computer and issues
regarding health and safety of employees.
