conducting questionnaire surveys, observations and personal interview. Gathering primary data
is observed to be expensive and it offers high accuracy and validity that is always particular to
the needs of the researchers (Brannen 2017). On the other hand, secondary data can be explained
as data collected by someone else in their past researches that are quick and easy to obtain at
economical manner. Moreover, such data is gathered from government publications, internal
records, books and journals that might or might not be specific to needs of researchers. Among
these data sources, collection and use of primary data is deemed to be most relevant in
addressing management challenges along with real-life business scenarios (Carr et al. 2016).
This is for the reason that primary data serves as an original source of gathering most significant
data direct from the individuals facing certain challenges that can support in gathering real and
detailed data on important management challenges in order to develop effective solutions.

as safety on the workplace that can impact the workplace performance of the employees (Gabriel
2015). In addition, the research will also reveal strategies in addressing the gap of occupations

evaluating the statutory health and safety report that can indicate the work-based diseases,
injuries and accidents faced by the technical employees in the UAE retail industry.

Conceptual Framework
The figure below indicates the conceptual framework developed for carrying out research
on evaluating the effectiveness of innovative marketing communications strategy that can aid in
increasing employee performance standards through implementing suitable health and workplace
safety practices. It is gathered from the conceptual framework that occupational safety and health
has high importance in terms of causing high loss and sufferings resultant from occupational
disease across several employment areas (Ghasemi et al. 2015). Based on the conceptual
framework data analysis will be carried out in analyzing the significant link between the
dependent variable (employee performance in UAE retail companies) and the independent
variables (organizations safety approaches and employee health programs). Based on the
conceptual framework, the research will focus on evaluating the occupational health safety
programs followed in UAE retail organizations as multifaceted field where an individual is able
to interact with broader business spectrum along with being associated with interests and
concerns of employees regarding their safety in workplace (Hammer et al. 2016).

Research Methodology
Research Design
For the reason that this research is intended to evaluate the effects of occupational health
programs and safety on the performance of employees within the retail companies of UAE, so it
will employ descriptive research design (Hickson 2016). Selection of this research design is
justified as it can facilitate in offering an elaborated description of the challenges related with the
heath and safety policies ineffectiveness in the retail organisations of UAE impacts performance
of their employees. Descruotue research design can also facilitate in developing a
recommendation list in reducing the workplace safety issues faced by employees.
Research Philosophy
The current research will dissect effects of occupational health programs and safety on
the performance of employees within the retail companies of UAE. Considering the nature of the
study, the researcher will consider implementing positivism research philosophy based on which
the theories and models explained in the literature review can be aligned with the current study
scenario (Jilcha and Kitaw 2017). In addition, this research philosophy is considered to be
justified in this study as it is relied on the existence of reality through employing scientifically
proven techniques.
Research Approach
Selecting most suitable research approach in the study can support the research in
carrying out study effectively in arriving at desired and realistic research findings. In this study,
the researcher will employ deductive research approach that will focus on scrutinising the
available theories and models associated with research through attaining support from gathered

data findings (King and Mackey 2016). This research approach will be justified as it can support
in realising the actual results to study as it can also facilitate in carrying out quantitative research
analysis and effectively analysing primary data that will be gathered from the respondent.
Data Collection Methods
Primary along with secondary data collection method will be employed for evaluating the
effects of occupational health programs and safety on the performance of employees within the
retail companies of UAE. Primary data will be gathered through survey questionnaire technique
in which questions will be prepared based on the likert scale method as it can support in
collecting most relevant numerical data for analysis (Kumar 2019). Secondary data will be
collected from credible and peer-reviewed journals, books, government publications and
industrial reports on earth a safety programs followed in UAE retail industry.
Sampling and Sample Size
Seaming can be realised a technique based on which the target respondents in the study
can be selected from a large population. In this study simple random sampling technique will be
employed as it can facilitate the researcher in analysing its primary data gathered for blending
relevant information associated with the research objectives (Mackey and Gass 2015). The
sample size for this research will be 50 employees from five most renowned retail companies in
UAE as these employees are the one that can provide most relevant response on the effectiveness
of health and safety programs followed within their workplace.
Data Analysis
The data gathered will be analysed through employing suitable statistical data analytical
techniques in order to attain significant study findings. SPSS statistical data analysis tool will be

implemented in carrying our correlation and regression analysis that can facilitate in analysing
the significant relationship between the dependent and independent variables (Meredith et al.
2018). Moreover, data findings will be represented in the form of graphs and tables that can
further simplify the interpretation of the respondents’ insights on the health and safety challenges
faced by them in the workplace.
Ethical Considerations
In carrying out this research, it will be ensured by the researcher that mutual consent will
be gathered from the target survey respondents before persuading them to take part in the survey.
In addition, ethical code of conduct will be followed by the researcher through maintaining the
confidentiality regarding the respondents’ identity and their information will not be disclosed for
sanctuary reasons (Mohammadfam et al. 2017). The researcher will also ensure that the study
will be the sole work of the researcher and will not have any plagiarised content.
