• According to the Victorian Mental
Health Work Survey
• The mental health nurses are
exposed to Verbal violence
• Physical violence
• Bullying and Mobbing
• The Australian mental health
nurses reported that OV leads to
severe psychological distress and
also decrease the overall health
impact

Research Problem Issue
• The main victims of the occupational
violence under the mental healthcare
settings are the mental health nurses
• The nurses under the mental healthcare
settings like in the psychiatric wards are 20
times more vulnerable to physical and
mental violence in comparison to the public
health violence
• Patient aggressions, verbal violence from the
colleagues are the main reasons that
increase the parameter of occupational
violence
• Thus factors mainly occur only the nursing
strength is low or when the nurses are
working for the extended shift timings or
when the ward has critical mental health
patients
