Introduction
Project Management holds a significant place which makes sure that the project of the
organisations is completed as per formulated plans and also managing the activities involved in
the project. There are a number of operations and the functions involved in a project and the
management of such activities is required to be managed and maintained properly. Projects are
based on the formulation of effective plans. These plans are developed in the form of documents
which includes an implementation plan, management plan of the project, performance evaluation
of the project and the last stage of the project i.e. the project closure. This assignment includes a
case scenario which includes large international oil organisation that requires management of the
operating and functional activities and resolving the issues faced by the organisation.

Implementation Plan
This plan plays an essential role in ensuring that the plans formulated for the performances of the
project and for the completion of the project are done as decided. It is essential that
implementation of the plan is made effectively so that desired and established objectives can be
accomplished. It includes the objectives or goals, activities or task involved, roles and
responsibilities of the personnel, required resources, etc. It also includes establishing limits for
some aspects as well as making assumptions for other aspects (Turner, 2016). These aspects
include the development of the budget, schedule, and resources which can be fixed and
fluctuating. However, it is essential that these aspects are defined properly. There are various
issues which are faced by the organisation and application of digitalisation may provide an
insight into the solutions of such issues.
Project Goals and Objectives
Aim
The project aims at repairing the tanks which are faulty and damaged which will help in
providing a safeguard to the environment.
Objectives
The objectives of the project are as follows:
Preserving the environment by repairing the tank and make sure that there is no leakage
of petroleum products.
Application of the latest technology in order to maintain the conditions of oil tanks after
the repair has been done.
Preparing the implementation plan, management plan of the project, performance
evaluation of the project and project closure for the project of the organisation focusing
on making repairs.

The aim of the project is to make repair and restoration of all the tanks established at Western
Australia. In order to accomplish the aims of the project, the phased approach will be used in
which different activities will be divided into different phases. Once a phase is completed,
initiation of another phase of the project takes place. As it is a large project and required
adequate implementation, it is necessary to breakdown large operating and functional activities
into smaller tasks which makes it easier to perform (Chapman, 2016). Moreover, making the
performance of smaller tasks provides assistance in accomplishing the objectives of the project
without having an impact on the operation of the organisation.
Point of Contact
It is necessary that the tasks within the project are divided into different teams as per the nature
of the task as well as skills and capabilities of the team. This helps in proper implementation of
the plans. Following are the role played within the project:
Role Name Contact Details
(Number/ Email)
Manager of the Project
Sponsor
Government Project Officer
Technical Head
System Developer

Project Management Structure
In a project, the project manager and other personnel have to face a number of issues which has
an impact on operations and functions involved in the project (Nicholas, & Steyn, 2017). As the
organisation in an international organisation, it has to face issues due to cross border cultures. It
is necessary that there must be a proper structure for project management. The structures of the
project management are as follows:
Major Tasks
As the project of the organisation is large, there are various tasks which are involved in a project.
The project of the organisation is based on repairing the tanks in order to stop the leakage and
make sure about the protection of the environment. Moreover, penalties for polluting
environment are also paid by the organisation. There are proper sequences in which the whole
project must be performed and such sequences are as follows:
Evaluation of the Current Conditions
Estimation of the cost
Arrangements of the funds
Development of the Proposal

Privacy and Security
It is essential that the information and data of the organisation and its personnel are protected and
effective measures are taken for ensuring the protection of the information and data. There is a
number of laws which are applicable on the protection of information and data and one of such
act is GDPR Act, 2018. It is necessary that the provisions of this act are complied with in true
and fair manner so that the information and personal data of the organisation and its staff can be
protected against digital threats. It is to be made sure by the compliance officer of the
organisation.
Supporting Plans
Training and Development: Before the commencement of the project, training will be provided
to each and every employee and other personnel involved in the project for repairing the oil tanks
(Boer, et. al., 2017).
Resources: There is a number of resources which are required for the performance of the project
includes machinery, funds, manpower, management, etc.

Project Management Plan
There are various components of the management plan of the project which includes the
schedules, cost management, requirement management, change management plan, risk
management, and communication management.
Cost Management
Cost is an essential part of the project which is required to be managed properly. Project Cost
management helps in managing the cost of the project with the use of technology as well as helps
in measuring the productivity and cost. It includes a series of steps such as:
Estimation of the cost.
Determining the budget of the project.
Controlling the cost.
(Source: Free management books, 2019)
Requirement Management
Another significant part of the project is the resources which are required for making
performances of the tasks or works involved in the project (Camilleri, 2016). With the help of
requirement management, the required resources are arranged and provided to the workforce for
making the performance.
Change Management

As the market is ever-changing and uncertain, with the help of change management, such
reforms are managed and controlled. It is clear that changes take place throughout the lifecycle
of the project. Change management helps in controlling the impact of the reforms or changes
taking place at the time of throughout the project.

Risk Management
Risks and liabilities
As the project of the organisation is large and involves a lot of risks, it is essential that such risks
are defined properly in order to develop contingency plans (Hillson, 2017). Restoration and
repairing of the oil tanks include various risks such as:
Physical: Damage of machinery, failure of the equipment, causing accidents, etc.
Technical: Failure of software resulting in the breakdown of machinery.
Legal: Non-Compliance with applicable laws or regulations.

Political: Policies developed by the Government is not followed.
Liabilities: It will be the liability of the person responsible for assigned roles if proper safety
measures provided by the organisation are not used.
Risk Mitigation: As the project is based on oil tank restoration and repairing, it includes various
risks. It is the responsibility of the project manager to make plans for mitigating the risk.
Communication Management
It is significant that communication is managed properly as it plays an important role in the
project. This helps in managing the performances, communicating the issues and resolving the
same (Binder, 2016). This requires assigning roles and responsibilities of the officers engaged in
the project. This will also include developing effective plans so that issues can be resolved
timely.

Project Performance Evaluation
In the project of repairing the oil tanks, evaluation of the performance within the project is a
complex task. In the given case scenario of international oil organisation, there are various issues
which are faced by the organisation in terms of resources and technology. Amongst these factors,
cost and time schedule of the project are other factors which influence the project and its
effectiveness (Ward & Levin, 2016). It is necessary to make sure that proper plan or strategies
are formulated in order to complete the project and deal with issues faced during this scenario.
There is a number of the techniques by which performance within the project can be evaluated.
Some of these techniques are Performance Prism, AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), SMART
System, etc.
There are a number of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) which provides assistance in
defining and providing an understanding of the tasks or works involved in the project. Defining
of the KPIs make sure how the organisation measures success. The KPIs of the project of the
restoration and repairing of the oil tanks on which the performance will be evaluated are as
follows:
Impact on the Environment: The aim of the project is to repair and restore the tanks so that
leakage of the petroleum products can be reduced which will ultimately reduce the impact on the
environment. Restoring the tanks will help in reducing the pollution through oil and will also
help in eliminating the penalties being the charged by the authorities (Westland, 2019). The
impact of pollution can be measured by examining the leakage and the emission of the gases due
to such leakage.
Time Schedule and Cost: These are considered as the most parameters for measuring the
performance of the project (Cooke, 2016). A project will be considered as efficient and effective
if it is completed within the decided timeframe and in accordance with the established budget.
Engagement of Employees and Support: The manpower of the project is considered as the
most significant resource of the project as it is the manpower who makes the completion of the
project on time and with effectiveness. It is necessary that proper training and facilities are
