1 Observation
The mention of this particular character can be found in the Old Testament and the
legend of rescuing Israelites from the bondage of slavery and tyranny in Egypt. There had been
times when the Israelites had lost faith in God, but Moses did not lose faith in God and he had
remained firm on his word which he did not break until he had safely transport the Israelites to
the Promised Land. In this particular essay the discussion shall be focusing upon the character of
Moses whose mention can be found in the Old Testament of the Bible.
The mention of the Moses is found in the book of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and
Deuteronomy. Moses has been mentioned 828 times in the Bible and he was introduced in the
book of Exodus and his life continued thoughout Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
In Exodus 3:1 Moses was spotted as a shepherd.
In Exodus 3:10 Moses was commanded to go to Egypt and bring the people back to Israel
from the bondage of slavery under the pharaoh.
In Exodus 4:10 the humility of Moses is revealed.
In Exodus 17:11, it has been written that Israel had prevailed when Moses had raised his
hands.
In Exodus 18:13 Moses had judged the people.
In Exodus 18:20 God had asked Moses to teach the Israelites about the laws of God and
the way they are supposed to act.
In Exodus 24:4 built an altar which signified the 12 tribes of Israel.

In Exodus 24:17-18 the 40 days of retreat with God and Moses has been revealed.
In Exodus 32:11 Moses had asked Lord why does he want to show his anger upon his
own people whom he had brought to Israel himself.
In Exodus 33:11 Lord speaking to Moses had been revealed.
In Exodus 33:17 God had promised to act according to the wish of Moses since he had
kept him in good humour.
In Leviticus 19: 1-37 Moses had handed down the entire set of law which the Israelites
were supposed to follow ranging from customs to food and all other aspects of human life.
In Numbers 12: 6-8 Moses proclaimed that he had been chosen as the prophet by the
God.
In Numbers 12:13 Moses calls out to God for healing him.
In Numbers 16:46 Moses summons to Aaron the onset of the plague.
In Numbers 21:7 the Israelites had asked Moses to remove the serpents from them an
forgive their sins.
In Deuteronomy 6: 1-3 Moses once again asked the people of Israel to obey the Lord and
his rules.
In Deuteronomy 18:15 asked the people to listen to Lord and that he was supposed to rise
like a prophet.
In Deuteronomy 31:9 the laws of the Bible being written by Moses is revealed.

In Deuteronomy 32: 46-47 Moses had asked the commandment of God to be handed
down as legacy to the children.
In Deuteronomy 34:10 it is revealed that no other prophet was known face to face apart
from Moses.
The character of Moses is an epitome of obedience, dutiboundedness, social worker,
messenger, guide, humility, perseverance, role model, leader and a diplomat. These are the 10
qualities of Moses that can be found according to the verses discussed above.
2 Interpretation and Correlation
With regard to the quality of obedience and dutiboundedness Exodus 3:1 wherein
Moses was spotted as a shepherd and Exodus 3:10 wherein Moses was commanded to go to
Egypt and bring the people back to Israel from the bondage of slavery under the pharaoh can be
cited.
With regard to being the messenger, the verses from Exodus 18:20 wherein God had
asked Moses to teach the Israelites about the laws of God and the way they are supposed to act;
Leviticus 19: 1-37 wherein Moses had handed down the entire set of law which the Israelites
were supposed to follow ranging from customs to food and all other aspects of human life;
Numbers 12:13 wherein Moses calls out to God for healing him; Numbers 16:46 wherein Moses
summons to Aaron the onset of the plague; Numbers 21:7 wherein the Israelites had asked

With regard to Moses being the leader, the verses from Numbers 12: 6-8 wherein Moses
proclaimed that he had been chosen as the prophet by the God and the book of Deuteronomy can
be cited as he had several times asked the people to follow the rules God, can be cited.
3 Application
Moses thus has been dutiful to God and had forever followed his orders by means of
transmitting messages.
Moses had been a true leader as he had not just been the messenger of God for the
Israelites but had also conveyed their grieveances to the God, especially to ask God to forgive
the plague.
Moses had truly been committed to his duty to God as had several times asked the people
to follow the rules made by God.
Moses despite being a man of great repute he was very humble and had asked the Lord to
heal him when he was losing strength.
