INTRODUCTION
Olympics games, is an athlete festival which is organised with the aim of developing
awareness about the sports and games. It is considered as the world’s foremost sports
competition in which more than 200 nations participating. It is originated in the ancient
Greece which was revived in late 19th century. This event features summer and winter sports
competition in which thousands of athletes participated in various competitions. The
international Olympic committee is responsible for choosing the host city by analysing it on
various factors. This event consists of 26 sports with nearly 300 events which are organised
with efficiency to avoid the controversies. Women have been allowed to participate in
Olympics since 1990. The official languages of the games are English, French and language
of the host country (Blakemore, 2018). The five rings of the Olympic symbols are designed
by the Baron Pierre de Coubertin who is the co-founder of modern Olympic game. This
represents the five inhabited continents of the world. The rings consist of six colours blue,
yellow, black, green, red and white colour in the background because every nation’s flag
contains at least one of them. The Olympic Games have been hosted by 23 countries across
the globe. The first official Olympic mascot was waldi, the dachshund, in 1972 at Munich. In
2012 London became the first city who has hosted the event three times.

country and also enhance the employment opportunities for the unemployed peoples
of country. It has also fuelled growth in the tourism industry by successful analyses of
the Olympic Games in the country. This will also increase the overall GDP of the
country which will reduce the risk of financial instability of the country.
Creates Awareness: Olympics will also create awareness for the people of the
country and the spectators who are visiting it regarding the cultural values of London.
Olympics are an effective way of encouraging tourism in country. Awareness will
generate desire for the participation among the speculators and different groups of the
society.
Competitive Advantage: Olympics create a competitive advantage for the country
(Chaboche and Schoeny, 2019). In relation to London Olympics, the country has
sustained competitive advantage by successfully organising Olympic Games three
times in their country. Competition will promote effectiveness and efficiency in the

either in the form of public funding or in private investments to be spent in the sports
events. These investments will also help in the infrastructure development of the
country (Chang, 2020). These investments will also help in expanding business
opportunities and supporting import-export policy of the country.

planning, food services and so on. The country has some short term effects on the hospitality
sector which can be explained as follows:
Trade Enhancement: Olympic Games have enhanced the level of trade across the
country due to arrival of lots of tourist. This also helps in building the backbone of the
company as due to the Olympics, the country will earn enough funds which will help
in the contingent circumstances of the country (Stephens, 2020).
Organisation of Mega Event: Olympics is a mega event organised with the aim of

material in the surroundings of the host event area. This waste will generate pollutants
in the environment which will cause many diseases to the citizens of the country.

for the implementation of government strategies. Furthermore, the report discusses about the

above report. Media also plays a crucial role in the success of this event as they telecast this
event globally to create a link of connection of this event across the globe.
