Task 1
Information Gathering Techniques
Following are the techniques those could be utilized for the information gathering
techniques:
Interview: Interviewing the stakeholders involved or associated with the system allows
the system analyst to gather the information related to the needs and requirements of the
stakeholders. This information could be utilized for proposing the system that can be helpful in
assuring that the needs and requirements of the stakeholders are fulfilled. The process of
interview includes meeting with the stakeholder and asking the questions related to their
expectations from the system.
Questionnaire: It can be expressed as a tool for the survey that allows the system analyst
to prepare a set of questions regarding the specification of the system through targeting the group
of stakeholders. It consists of many questions those could be open ended, close ended, or
optional regarding the point of view for a single question. The questionnaire for different
stakeholder groups should consist of questions related to their background and interest. The
answers could be used for finalizing the overall result in the form of the charts or pies that can
present the visual representation of the stakeholders thought regarding the proposed system.

Time consuming
Deeper level of engagement with the end user Bouncing ideas
Much easier to make the arrangement of the
session to communicate with an individual
rather than communicating with o group.
It allows to gain better ‘buy in’ rom the

Offers better and effective support in the next
stages of the project
Questionnaires
Faster Consumes time in designing
Different stakeholders can be targeted A good number of participant necessary

Explanations and Assumptions
There are three important use cases as expressed in the above figure including Register,
Carpet selection and Payment those include other sub use case as an extension of the use case or
options included in the use case. Log In use case is associated with the registration and thus, the
user can only log in if he or she has registers in the system. Carpet selection use case include

three sub cases for the selection of sizes of the carpet that has been further extended to selection
of the color of the carpet. Third use case is the payment that has been extended for further three
modes of payment.

Explanation
The initial state of the system will allow the user to register in the system and create
unique id to access the system. The user will be allowed to search for the carpet after registering
and logging into the system. Thereafter, the user will be asked to select the size of the carpet and
move to checkout point. This will be a loop allowing the customer to re-enter the loop and make
another transaction if he or she wants to. Thereafter the payment mode will be selected and the
customer will make the payment.
