Human life has become more comfortable, with the advent of technology. Nowadays,
anyone from a remote region can communicate with network resources to the other person
residing anywhere in the world. There are also some disadvantages, for such an important
accomplishment. Online Harassment is on the rise and in cases of depression have been a
significant part of the reason.
There are various causes and effects of stress. As the main cause of harassment is the
sexual abuse of women and men. There are mostly women who are sexually abused that are
between the ages of 18-29. The American's behaviour is found to be harassing which is also
becoming the major reason for harassment. There are various online harassments like the
morphing of photos that has also become the main reason for the harassment. Sometimes, online
harassment is one of the issue in which individuals try to harass by revealing the mystery about
the person with the intention to ruins the identity of the person. Sometimes it affects the victim to
the extent that the victim becomes forced to commit suicide. Online Harassment can affect like
mental or emotional discomfort, or they become very upset, and many of them feel that they are
not physically safe. A high level of anxiety has been found in individuals. Online harassment
affects mostly young people into depression. Online Harassment affects the people in many
other ways as well that various ways have affected (Vitak, Chadha, Steiner & Ashktorab, 2017).
Online Harassment is not that complicated but could be easy when people who continue
to submit instant messages or e-mails annoy someone who feels he doesn't have to reach the
sender anymore. It might include transparent practices such as pornographic harassment,
frequent attacks, hate speech or false accusations, criticism in online discussions, breaching
someone's account, making false allegations and insulting someone.
Online Harassment is restricting itself to persuading an individual to post rumours, to
spread hatred in other people's ways of thinking or disliking others, or to take an interest in the
target's online activities. It can track the victims of crime and spread information that is being
insulted or defeated individually (Kennedy et al., 2017).

A recent Pew Research Centre nationally representative poll of 4,248 U.S. adults found
41% of Americans being exposed to online harassment and a larger share of them (66 percent)
were subjected to this activity. Such interactions are, in some instances, restricted to actions that
can be dismissed or disregarded as a threat to online life, such as derogatory calls to names or
attempts to shame others ( Pew Research Centre, 2017).
It can be concluded that online harassment nowadays becomes the major reason for
depression, suicides and various other diseases among youths. In this essay, it has also been
given about various effects and causes of online harassment. It has been found that mainly
women are sexually harassed and that has become the reason for anxiety, depression among
women. Some strong reasons suggest that sexual harassment becomes a big problem among
youths.
