INTRODUCTION
This essay aims at discussing opportunities and challenges associated with engaging in
online learning which has become essential because of Covid-19.
MAIN BODY
Online learning
Online learning refers to education taking place over internet rather than physical
classroom. In online learning different online methods are used for learning and teaching
students and these methods and tools are used with help of internet (Dhawan, 2020). Online
learning includes some resources that are Ebooks, Journals, Videos, and Recorded Lectures,
Quizzes and Live Question and Answer sessions.
Opportunities and challenges of online learning
Opportunities
Self regulated learners- Online learning provides opportunity of being self-regulated because
they are not getting direct support from teachers.
Scheduling flexibility- This opportunity includes that learners can learn on the basis of their time
and feasibility and learning becomes flexible (Lessons for Education during the COVID-19
crisis, 2020).
Geographical flexibility- This means that learners can learn regardless of their geographical
location and does not have to leave their place in order to learn. This also enables to learn from
top universities without going there.
Challenges
Hacking online lectures- This has been experienced that several online learning classes have
been hacked with highly disturbing content.
Concern regarding quality learning- Online learning does has another challenge that is based
on quality of teaching and learning because direct support is not available (Paul Feldman, 2020).
