 Your responses may be recorded or presented in a written format. Written responses for each
answer should be approximately 100 words in length. The written responses may be presented in
narrative or bullet point format.

Belonging, Being and Becoming – The Early Years Learning Framework, Early Childhood
Australia Code of Ethics, policies and procedures common to early childhood education and care

1. Briefly outline four (4) different external factors that can affect children’s emotional and
psychological development.
1. Poverty:- The poverty affect in number of ways in both emotional and physical
development of children. The poverty cause various impact on growth of a child. This
factor highly causes stress in between family members which impact on the health of a
child and their growth.
2. Education:- the setting of education can affect child's development. Although it stimulates
both development of child.
3. Family environment:- this highly affects emotional and psychological development of
children as they are connected to their family members most. The behavior from family
can cause emotional and psychological impact on children.
4. Personal choices:- the children have their personal choices which impact on their
development. It includes their habits and routine which impact their psychological and
emotional development.

2. Describe a scenario that you have observed whilst working in an education and care service
where a conflict between children was resolved by an educator. Explain how this situation
might have been handled differently to encourage children to create their own solutions.
For example:- every children have their own personal choices which may raise conflict between
children. Likewise, a child have different perspective in his interest as he likes to play outdoor but
b child has different perspective from a as he likes to play in indoor. This conflicts is remove by

3. Outline ten (10) experiences that you could provide for children of different ages with
opportunities to participate in science, mathematics and technology. Experiences should be
fun, hands-on activities that stimulate children’s curiosity and provide the basis for the
development of abstract thinking. In your answer, be sure to note which resources are most
appropriate for which age group(s).
1. The use of rhymes and poems can provide opportunities to take part in various activities.
This can connect children as it provides fun to children. This resources is appropriate for 1
to 2 years old of children.
2. The story telling is also an appropriate experience from which it develops curiosity. This
help in influencing thinking of children which might help children in participating in other
activities. This can be used to 4 to 6 age of children.
3. The measuring ingredients can provide experience to participate in science, mathematics
and technologies. As this experience provides knowledge about mathematics. It also help
in developing abstract thinking of children. It can be used with approx 6 years old age
group of children.
4. The mixing things is also an effective approach that help 2 to 3 years of children. As this
provides proper way of identifying and analyzing things.
5. The texture of ingredients can help in providing knowledge about sciences which also
develops curiosity. As children can think composition and cause of ingredients. This is

used with in the age of 2 or 3 years old children.
7. The smelling provides scientific experiences from which children can learn and their
development of thinking can be occur. This experience is use for the age of 2 years old
children.
8. The prediction provides scientific knowledge to children which influence thinking of
children. This helps in developing thinking and it also enhance curiosity among children.

9. The tasting also provides experience to all age group of children. As with this they
experience different flavors that are used.
10. There are various changes occur with temperature and this experience helps in
determining technologies among children. This experience is occur for 6 years old age

Case study 1
Topan is a very active three-year-old who tends to run rather than walk. On a particularly busy day,
Topan rushes from an art activity which he doesn’t seem to like, to the outdoor area for free play,
which he always seems to enjoy.
In his hurry, Topan bumps into Mikhael, who is finishing a drawing. This causes Mikhael to fall over
and to accidentally scrawl a big red line through the middle of his drawing. Mikhael bursts into tears
and Topan runs away.
As an educator, describe how you would:
a) structure the experiences provided on the day in a way that promotes cooperation and
conflict resolution
As an educator, I experience various structure on that day which promotes cooperation and
conflict resolution. I recognise interest and values of children as Topan has high involvement and
interest in playing at outdoor area. He does not have interest in art activity. While Mikhael have
high enthusiasm in art activity. I experience different behaviour of children which need
cooperation differently. With respect to both Topan and Mikhael, cooperation and conflict
resolution can be promoted. This develops knowledge and understanding towards nature of
interest among both children from various conflicts can be resolved. The proper cooperation can
be provided according to their views and interest so that they both properly can engage in both
collaborative and individual learning process.

b) Help Topan to see the consequences of his actions as an opportunity to learn and grow.
The topan must see the consequences of his action as Mikhael burst into tears. The Mikhael has
his values and interest regarding art activity. The Topan must revisit his ideas and action so that
he can realise consequences of his action. By identifying consequences he can extend his thinking
which help in his learning and grow. This is an opportunity for Topan to grow by realising result
of his action as Mikhael start crying due to deteriorate of his drawing. The Topan can learn other

Case study 2
You have just taken a position at a new education and care service and you are busy becoming
familiar with how the service documents children’s development and wellbeing. The director is very
busy and has not given you a clear induction into the service’s policies and procedures. The other
staff are equally busy and the documentation regarding individual children’s development and
wellbeing is patchy and incomplete.
Describe how you would facilitate team collaboration for assessing and evaluating the children’s
development and wellbeing.

Case study 3
Sagal is a somewhat reserved four-year-old from a Somali background. Her family moved to Australia
18 months ago and had experienced considerable humanitarian difficulties in their home country.
Sagal’s mother and father have spoken about how hard it has been trying to settle into their new life
here. You observe that Sagal tends to withdraw in large group activities and can appear distressed
when the noise level in the service is very high. She appears most content when playing alone.
