Operation management is the area of management that concerned with managing and
designing products and developing effective business operations for gaining higher income. It
will concerned with managing and handling the whole production system which is the procedure
to convert input into output for making finished goods. Logistic and operation management are
the key factor for an organisation success and growth and another is supply chain management
which is the process to extend all business operations for extracting different raw material. Along
with this, operation management help in managing and regulating several organisation for
smoothly run of business functions in appropriate way (Berry, 2011). Logistic is the
administration of flow of products between the point of origin and point of consumption assist in
achieving certain requirements and needs. This will help in gaining higher productivity and
profitability. Logistic and supply chain relative in the industry where both terms are closely
related to the products cycle. The operation management play an important role in smoothly
running of business operations that can be used for reducing resources and also satisfying all
customers needs and wants in better manner.
The assignment is based on hospital company which named as Princess Alexandra
Hospital is the Australian teaching hospital of the University of Queensland which is located in
Brisbane, Queensland. It is the tertiary level of education along with major medical and surgical
specialities except from gynaecology, obstetrics and paediatrics. There are around 1.6 million
people who stay in this hospital with approx. 780 beds and 5800 full time equivalent hospital
staff members who serve patient every time. The hospital staff member are providing
comprehensive range of safe and reliable services or facilities to the local people which are
around 258,000 people. They are committed to the basic principle of the National health service
where they are serve services that assist in meet with all health requirements and needs of each
person and providing free facilities at the same time (West and et. al., 2012). Along with this,
Princess Alexandra Hospital are form their services which fulfil all needs of the patients such as
providing data and information regarding new facilities to all the people who are select them .
On the other hand, promote their services for gaining higher level of understanding and
availability. It is the tertiary health care centre which provide proper care for major cases of
diseases to the people. It is one of the most famous Australian leading academic and research
health centres. They are providing various services such as mental health, cancer, surgical, allied

health facilities and rehabilitation. The hospital is expertise in transplantation centre of livers,
kidney, bone , corneas and cartilage. There are two topic which named as managing quality in
this hospital provide quality services to their patients and on the other side, location and layout in
this, hospital need to layout their place where all the patients are comfortably stay.
Managing quality TQM
Total quality management is that procedure which assist in improving of each products
that are deliver to the people. TQM is founded in japan and it will expand in other location and
places. It is the set of customer based activity which help in improving the quality and promoting
various procedure of theories, concepts and there are different theories that guide towards
practices. Princess Alexandra Hospital use this method and techniques for serving quality based
services for the patients (Clark and et. al., 2011). TQM has different theories and concept which
can be used for maintaining quality of facilities and services that provide to the suffered patients.
In the first, organisation select managing quality topic which implement on the TQM for
improving their quality equipment and services of the hospital. Along with this, there are various
types of Total quality management theories which can be used by princess Alexandra hospital for
managing quality of services that are described here.
In the Deming's theory, organisation are increasing its services quality and reduces the
value of their desired facilities in proper manner. It will help in estimating the degree of
uniformity and dependability along with standard quality which are best suitable for the patients.
Princess Alexandra hospital are adopting managing quality method for improving the new
services which will be served to their patients. Leadership will play an essential role in acquiring

sheets, pareto analysis and histograms (Gardner, Allis and Strahl, 2011).

Triple bottom line is the framework which has three parts such as social, environmental
and financial (Berry, 2011). It is the concept which extend the business concentration on
financial bottom line which include social and environmental considerations. Triple bottom line
is that system which can be used by Princess Alexandra Hospital is to determine the income

and delivering the best. For integrating different theories that is total quality management and
triple bottom line can improved for increasing the medical quality operations and functions. This
hospital has unified triple bottom line for determining earnings from sustainability facilities such
as social, economical and environmental. The hospital using the concept of managing quality
and location layout for making all business operations effective and improve the services quality
in better manner. With the help of managing quality, the company require to perform work for
making improvement in their best quality based services. In addition to this, it can be
recommended that TQM method require to applied all the operation and activities which is not
only implement in some departments. This healthcare institution can make use of the
technological advancement so that they are able to carry out promotional activities in the right
manner along with attaining efficiency in service delivery. In addition to this, it can be analysed
that there are various factors such as social, economical and environmental sustainability. It will
help in examining the entire market area for appropriate evaluation regarding different services
that will serve to their desired patients. For acquiring competitive benefits in the innovative
market and also improving the quality based factors which directly affect on business operations.
