Abstract
Introduction
Operational Management in the Australian pipeline industries is referred to a one of the
most important things that is required to be considered for the managerial improvement of the
existing system used by the business organization. It has been defied that, there are different
facts of pipeline development approaches are there like the pipeline route is completely
influenced by the significant range of the factors from the soil type to the town location. The
pipelines are made up from flat plates of steel those are heated, shaped and welded in a well
manner. In addition to this, before the transfer of any gas through the pipeline, the pipelines are
to be tested well. In order to improve the business activities and design structure the three
operational criteria those ought to be maintained include aggregate planning and maintenance,
Forecasting and facility layout development and production and inventory control management.
Considering the requirement of the consumers, planning and maintenance aggregation should be
done and finalized as well. In addition to this, at the very initial phase, the stages those are
necessary for making electronic growth of the system should also be considered. Therefore,
based on the requirement of the consumers, the operational management skills are needed to be
grown by within the industrial workers defining from the planning and maintenance program.
Again in the very initial phase of construction of gas pipelines the route of gas
transmission must be survey accordingly. It will help the project manager and the operational
head of the industry, to get to know more about the gas pipeline industry of Australia. The
transmission pipelines could range and length between hundreds of kilometers and even it could
pass through wide terrain with a different geological as well as topological characteristic.

Depending on the number of variable, the final route could be selected and it also include the
type of soils, topological features which possess different challenges like river crossing, cliffs,
the location of the flora and fauna habitat and other utility presence like high tension power lines
and population centre as well. In addition to this the other components those are need to be
considered include and acquisition and requirement for legislation. After the selection of the
route and location, the securing approaches for necessary approvals must be considered.
The forecasting and facility is another operational skill that must be considered for
detailing the quality of the processes properly in terms of productivity, processing under
specialized facility option. Based on the selection of forecasting and facility the economic
growth of the Australian oil and gas pipelines industries could be done. The components those
provides the success of the industries include culture, technologies and individuals as well.
Another operational management that must be considered for the operational
management component that must be considered for gas pipeline industries of Australia is the
inventory and control management that is dependent upon manufacturing department. The
revenue of the business organizations is dependent on these components.
This paper depicts assessment of operational maintenance monitoring with minimizing
the cost management for organizational sustainability and strategic management. For the
propagation of industrial practices, the key areas of research those should be measured include
human resources, marketing and operational management. Even, the performances of the
employees, who are working in the gas pipeline industry of Australia, should be managed
strategically with reduced operational excellences.

The literatures reviewed in this paper demonstrates all the three mentioned activities
include aggregation planning and maintenance, forecasting and facility layout and production
and inventory control management. It has been found that, the existing business structure of the
gas pipeline industry of Australia, is facing major economical issues those are required to be
mitigated. In order to resolve these issues, the operational management approaches are needed to
be improved accordingly.
Literature review
According to ( ), in Australia,
There will be no such control over the variables associated to the study areas and at the
same time the data collected from different resources, are allowed to the researchers to define.
Different statistical tools are there those are widely used by the researchers for gaining successful
completion of the research with expected resultants. Though n some of the cases the studies
could inspire the hypothesis those could be tested with more specific experimental design
approaches.
On the other hand, the aspects of experiment and the independent variables associated to
the research topic are controlled by the research team. Whether the dependent variables are
affected by the independent variables or not are measured by the experimental methods.
However, the effect of other variable could be completely eliminated with this approach. The
positive strength of experimental treatment helps to isolate the relationship between both the
dependent and independent variable.

Research design
a) Research question 100
In order to resolve the issues associated to Gas pipeline industry of Australia it is
necessary to improve the existing operational structure. It will help the project developer to gain
competitive advantages and to improve the revenue structure of the industries as well. For
resolving the issues of these structure set of questions have been developed. It will help the topic
researchers to resolve the issues accordingly. The developed questions for the research area are
as follows:
Why operation management systems for the gas pipelines industries are important
for?
What are the importances of using Pipeline leak detection program?
What are the different API leak detection programs and what are the differences
between these guidance programs?
b) Related work 400
In order to develop this particular research design topic, it is necessary for the researchers
to develop a framework on the importance of operational management in gas pipelines industries
of Australia. The three different research design approaches are exploratory, explanatory and
descriptive. In order to execute the preliminarily designed framework proper data or information
are required to be collected by the researchers. With the help of collected data the researchers
Document Page
could be able to collect data properly. However, in order to develop the framework, proper
analysis pattern and selection of proper design approaches are needed to be considered by the
topic researcher. In order to acknowledge different kinds of ideas and thoughts those are required
to complete the solution the research design approach which is needed is the exploratory design
approach. The explanatory research design helps the researchers to describe the occurrences of
different events or incidents and the corresponding effect of the events. The penetration details of
the research design will become completely limited due to lack of mere explanation of the cause
and effect relationship. On the other hand, the descriptive design approach helps the researcher to
gain details as to state occurrence of the details and could also provide accurate details of the
design.
In order to develop the research design approach it is necessary for the researchers to
consider the strength and limitation of all of these approaches. Based on the research topic, the
most suitable design approach should be selected by the designer. Among three of these design
approaches the two most suitable design approaches ate explanatory and descriptive design
approach. The advantages and disadvantages of explanatory and descriptive research design are
as follows:
Advantages: With the help of explanatory design approach the researcher will be able to
increase their understanding on the need of operational management in gas pipelines industry of
Australia. Though, the design is a little costly but it is useful to test the concept clearly. In
addition to this, it helps to assist the researchers with efficiency, flexibility towards the data
sources. In order to reach the goal of the decision makers different possible ways are there could
be reached accordingly. It helps to serve better conclusion with strategic planning as well.
Document Page
Disadvantages: The areas of research problems cannot be verified with the help of the
descriptive design. In addition to this, due to observational nature this particular study details or
research design is not repeatable.
In order to understand the hidden facts and the details of the research topic, explanatory
and descriptive research design approaches are to be selected.
c) Design
Different research design approaches are there such as experimental, quasi experiment,
correlation, ethnography etc. After understanding the details of the research design approaches it
is defined that quasi experiment is the most effective and beneficial research design approach for
the understanding the details of operational management of gas pipelines industry of Australia is
the quasi experiment, It helps the researchers to estimate the casual impact of the intervention
and the control groups as well. Even at the baseline these components could be compared to each
other.
With the help of proper research design approach the researcher will be able to
understand the details of the design by exploiting the hidden facts. For this particular research
design approach the exploratory research deign is completely avoided because, this particular
design approach is basically used for those issues which are it at all defined clearly by the
designers though for collecting data from different resources, this design approach is helpful.
However, for effective decision making the outcome generated from this design are not those
much helpful. This approach is little informal in nature, thus the components those are needed to
be understood for the operational management of gas pipeline industry of Australia could not be
extracted with the application of this particular design approach.

Another disadvantage of this exploratory research design is lack of shown causation and
instrument reactivity and placing affect as well. In order to avoid these issues the researcher has
avoided the exploratory design approach. On the other hand, the descriptive design approach
helps the researchers to define the route of the pipeline, the changing diameter of the pipelines
according to the pressure of gas and even based on the pressure and organic as well as inorganic
nature of the gases the materials those should be used for developing the pipelines are also
developed. In order to design the involved processes, both the descriptive and exploratory
research design approaches are very much helpful.
5. Design question
a) After considering the research area of topic, it has been determined that, two different
variables of interest are there such as correlation method and experimental method. In the basics
study area, it has been defined that, all the independent variables affect the dependent variables
directly.
It has been defined that, in most of the times the experimental studies are difficult are
difficult to run. Considering this particular outline of experiment it is defined that, though the
experiment study is mush expensive in nature but this could control the experiment properly.
Both of these studies are feasible in nature.
b) During the development of the process design approach the researchers are required to
follow certain ethical code of conduct. With the help of ethical code of conduct the researchers
would be able to identify the right and wrong set of behaviors of the employees. For
understanding the details analysis of the research work it is necessary for the research developers
Document Page
to take the help of standard ethical approaches. For this particular research study the ethical
perspectives are as follows:
Application of data: In order to understand the current trends of operational
management of gas pipelines industry in Australia, the information could be collected easily. In
order to keep the application completely academic in nature it is necessary for the researchers
avoid the commercial application restricted.
Involvement of the research respondents: In order to collect data from different resources,
the researchers are needed to use secondary data collection approaches. For understanding the
role and impact of operational management in gas pipeline industry of Australia, secondary data
collection method should be used. In order to collect data from the respondents, none of the
respondents should be influenced by the researchers. It will help the researchers to take
volunteers participation in the research topic.
The Anonymity of the respondents: The researcher should ensure that no such physical and
mental harassment are associated to the respondents. It will help the research developer to gain
proper respond from the participants without any error.
c)
Group Effect on the performance P-value
A vs B 5.12 0.235
A vs C 2.35 0.002
B vs C 3.75 2.350
Document Page
Three different groups are there such as Group A, Group B and Group C. After comparing the
performance of two groups that is between Group A and Group B, it is defined that, the effect on
performance ranges 5.12 and the P value for this performance is 0.235. On the other hand, if the
performance of group A and group C are compared then it is defined that the value of
performance ranges 0.002 and the effect on the performance is 2.35. Again comparing the
performance of B and C it is defined that the effected value on performance is 3.75 and the
Performance value of the comparison is ranges 2.350.
