Management of business operations is crucial to have control over quality to satisfy needs of

customers. In this regards, the report will discuss key approaches to operations management

including the role of managers and leaders and importance of operations management in

accomplishing business objectives. Further, the report will also demonstrate factors within

business environment that has impact on management decision making and operations.

Queuing theory:
The theory is based on a specific time towards a particular aspect within
operations. hence, the queues are mutual for external and internal process within TDMH and

it can enhance the cost of operations. the theory helps in providing ways in which business

can operate without depending on urgency or time viability issues (
Rumble, 2019). LIFO and
FIFO are the two concepts on which this theory is based and presents all the aspects

according to the business requirement in terms of time. NHS can apply this theory to manage

their tasks as per their priorities.

Lean production:
The approach is effective in improving operational process by eliminating
wastes from the production process. Hence, it helps in minimising wastes to make use of

resources in effective manner (
Qin, Nembhard and Barnes 2015). This theory is applicable to
production organisations to improve their performance by developing operational activities

efficiency effectively. in this way, quality of products and services can be improved.

Six-Sigma:
The approach is also effective in reducing errors within operational process to
provide satisfaction to people. in this regards, the focus of this approach is to improve quality

of services to make effective use of resources to work smoothly and effectively.

Organisations operating in hospitality and health care sector such as NHS and TDMH can use

this approach to deliver quality results to satisfy needs of consumers.

KAIZEN theory:
The theory is known for its effective management of operations to
improve its efficiency. this helps in accomplishing tasks through checking, executing and

making changes that are necessary. In this way, business is able to apply this theory in order

to reduce concerns associated with tasks that are important to overcome issues related to

Reid and Sanders, 2015). It is a step by step approach and also difficult to
implement. There are different areas where the firms such as TDMH and NHS can use this

theory to manage operations such as data, service, improvement and customer management to

enhance overall performance.

addition, there is a great importance of operations management within business as it helps in

producing quality services and products that can increase satisfaction of customers. in this

regards, several methods are available such as providing training to employees to enhance

their skills and knowledge, effective use of technologies, approaches and techniques etc. to

make operations better and effective (
Haksever and Render, 2017). In addition, manager and
leader within business are responsible for managing factors associated with operational

activities to improve services to gain competitiveness in market.

Manager and leader both play a crucial role in managing business performance and

operations to achieve desired aim and objectives. They are responsible for managing

employee relations, strategic management, engagement and involvement of employees etc. to

improve overall performance. in this regards, leader is able to make use of transformational

leadership to manage certain changes that are required in cope up with business issues and

in delivering quality services. it can be said that leadership plays a vital role in every

organisation in managing internal environment that has impact on business and its operations

stakeholders and to manage functional units of business. Effective leadership approaches will

help Costa Coffee to improve their CSR Activities and also operations to achieve success.

In addition, it is also very important to manage effective relationship with stakeholders to

implement strategies associated with CSR activities with the help of leadership and

management. Employees, investors, government, society, customers etc. ate the key

stakeholders for business which requires value from operations to achieve satisfaction. in this

globalised and competitive world, it is very important for the business to remain competitive

and effective to provide beneficial results in terms of profits and productivity. in this regards,

relationship with internal and external business environmental factors is also managed

effectively to create values for business in terms of sustainability (
Heizer, 2016). Costa
Coffee has responsibility to ensure that stakeholders are happy and their expectations are

fulfilled to encourage sustainable intraprenurship and entrepreneurship effectively. Further,

factors within the outside environment such as political, social, economic, technological,

legal and environmental must be managed well to cope up with today’s modern business

world.
