MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE
Introduction:
This very specific study has focused to make in-depth SWOT analysis for making self-
evaluation. Based on the research conducted on previous assignment I have observed that
managers have to take immense additional responsibilities for controlling the entire business
process. At the time of playing the job role properly managers have to face immense challenges
and risk factors. This very specific part has focused to identify my strengths and weakness as a
manager. Based on the previous job role I should identify the areas of my improvement as well
so that I can enhance my skill as an individual performer.
1. Three naturally occurring data:
The three naturally occurring data based on which I intended to communicate with the
employees at my on work place includes conversation, emails and corporate artifacts. In order to
make an effective conversation with the employees I used to follow both verbal as well as non-
verbal communication. Verbal communication enables me to maintain an effective interpersonal
communication with the employees individually. On the other hand, non-verbal communication
helps to communicate with those employees who have language barrier. A workplace is
constituted with numerous employees of different geographical backgrounds and attitudes. With
the help of an effective communication I wished to maintain a cordial relationship with my
employees. However, I have observed that people are from different cultural backgrounds cannot
maintain an effective rapport with me due to psychological barriers. Being unable to express
their own feeling those employees got de-motivated in performing well towards the services. I
have however observed that non-verbal communication is effective enough in communicating
with those employees who have language barrier.

MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE
Conversation is the tool based on which I can resolve the personal issues of my
employees. At the same time, I have observed that numerous numbers of official messages are
there which needs a formal communication. Email is the most effective method based on which I
can communicate with my employees regarding the organizational services. In order to know any
immediate information to the employees email is the easiest method to convey. As a result, the
employees do not have to waste their working time by attending a group session. On the other
hand, email is the most authentic way of conveying a message or information based on which the
listener can get equal message (Chiu et al., 2017). On the other hand, corporate artifacts are the
method of showing company’s exposed value and norms. I have decided to expose those data in
the annual report of our company. As a result, both internal as well as external stakeholder can
get a detailed overview about the values and norms of the company.
2. Personal strengths and weakness:

Weaknesses (internal, negative) Weakness-opportunity strategy

one of the most effective

decided to implement reward and

which this weakness can be
transformed into opportunities.
Weakness- threats strategy
Competitors’ market strategy is
one of the most effective threats
for Woolworths. In order to
minimize that threat I have
implemented more effective
strategy. Using low cost price
strategy I can gain the
competitors’ market threats.
While being associated in the post of manager of Woolworths I have identified my
strengths and weakness. As an efficient management I need to have some qualities that can
enable me to hold that position. I have identified my five strong qualities based on which I can
control the entire process of business. Effective decision making skill is highly important in
order to manage the entire process of business. I can take proper decision regarding reaching the
business goal. While taking a decision I never intend to deprive my team members. With the help
of participative decision making style I can involve my team members as well for making
collective decision. Team members can easily share their point of views with me. I never intend

to impose my own decision on the employees. As a result, employees tend to provide their best
services by keeping an enthusiastic attitude at the work place (Bosworth, 2016). In addition, I do
not feel nervous in overcoming any kind of crisis situation happened at my workplace. I as an
individual am very much patient and cool minded. I do not get nervous after facing over burden
of pressure at my workplace. This very specific study has focused to make an in-depth overview
on how the managers should play an important role in order to control the overall process of
business. I have however observed that making risk analysis before making a business strategy is
highly essential. Based on the critical analysis about the risk factors I can control risk
management factors. If one specific business plan does not work I can control the risk factors by
implementing an alternative business method. As a result the business organization does not have
to face challenges in rendering the profitability.
On the other hand, I have observed that responsibility is a part of my strengths and by
utilizing this skill I can maintain effective relation with both the employees as well as with the
customers. I have always tried to influence the employees in delivering services within proper
time to the customers. As a result, customers do not have to wait for a long time in receiving the
service from my organization. In addition, I do not hesitate in calculating the employee
remuneration, employee wages properly. As a result, employees tend to keep up their
enthusiastic attitude while providing services.
At the same time, it is undeniable that I am endowed with some of my major weakness as
well that needs to be improved for becoming an efficient manager. Communication is one of the
most significant factors due to which I cannot make proper interaction with the employees.
While working in a multinational company I have to be associated with large number of
employees from various cultural backgrounds. As a manager I need to have multi-lingual

flexibility based on which I can communicate with the employees fluently. People from diverse
cultural backgrounds would not feel hesitated in sharing their thoughts and views with me.
Unfortunately, I can only use English as a medium of communication. Consequently, people
belonging to other cultural backgrounds and attitudes have to face challenges in making an
effective interaction with me. One of the most significant drawbacks I have identified within my
capabilities includes technological skills. I am not accustomed with the advancement of
technology. I cannot maintain proper database regarding the employee performance graph. As a
result, I fail to give proper feedback regarding the performance of employees being unable to
maintain proper data record. Technological skill and competency is highly needed in order to
control the entire business process (Stillman, 2016). I have observed that I cannot overcome
sudden technological barrier. As a result, entire flow of business becomes demolished.
3. A critical assessment of how you are placed or misplaced within the chosen organization
I have been placed in the role of an operation manager in my organization. After having
five years of experience in the role of operation executive from other organization Woolworths
has directly recruited me in the post of operation manager. As per my point of view I was not
misplaced in the job role for which I was recruited. As an operation executive I have clear
overview on controlling the entire business process. I know on how to maintain good rapport
with the organizational employees based on which I can get better performances from them. The
employees with whom I was working within my organization were from various cultural
backgrounds and attitudes. I as an individual manager had to face immense challenges in
interacting with those employees due to language barrier. On the other hand, being unable to
have multilingual flexibility is my most effective barriers due to which employees could not
communicate with me. I was not able to maintain an effective interpersonal communication with

the employees due to these kinds of barriers. As a result, I have faced immense challenges in
resolving the issues faced by employees.
After having previous experiences in maintaining business operation I did not have to
face major challenges in being accustomed with the service process of this organization. Based
on my quick decision making skill and time management skill I can take immediate decision at
the workplace. At the very beginning of my career I have faced immense challenges in dealing
with the customers due to their dynamic needs and demands. However, I as an operation
manager have always tried to update my skills and competency after making in-depth research
and development on consumers’ purchasing behavior. While delivering the services, customer
service system has to face immense challenges in fulfilling the needs and demands of customers
every time.
I as an individual have always tried to identify the issues where customer service
providers are facing difficulties in fulfilling the needs and demands of the customers. Based on
the issues I can provide them proper suggestion on how to overcome the challenge. In my entire
career as a manager I have resolved immense instant issues for making the business flow
systematic and smooth. I got appreciation from my senior managers due to my responsibility and
prompt response. Therefore, as per my point of view I was not misplaced within my position
with which I was dealing. I was very much satisfied and happy with the job role based on which
I was providing effective services.
4. Self-improvement:
While discussing my weakness I have identified some of my major drawbacks based on
which I can make an action plan for rendering my self-improvement. As I have identified I am

regarding the performance of employees being unable to maintain proper data record. I have
observed that I cannot overcome sudden technological barrier. As a result, entire flow of

that can create a barrier in the path of my career. Communication is one of the most significant
drawbacks based on which I cannot make proper interaction with the employees. As a manager I
need to have multi-lingual flexibility based on which I can communicate with the employees
fluently. Unfortunately, I can only use English as a medium of communication. Consequently,
people belonging to other cultural backgrounds and attitudes have to face challenges in making

Conclusion:
After evaluating the entire study I have made self-analysis by finding my own drawback
which has enough scope of improvement. While evaluating my strengths and weakness I have
identified that I can maintain a friendly environment within the workplace. As a result,
employees working under me can take professional burden easily and they can share their
difficulties at the workplace with other colleagues. While taking a decision I never intend to
deprive my team members. With the help of participative decision making style I can involve my
team members as well for making collective decision.
At the same time, it is undeniable that I am endowed with some of my major weakness as

multi-lingual flexibility based on which I can communicate with the employees fluently. People
from diverse cultural backgrounds would not feel hesitated in sharing their thoughts and views
with me. Unfortunately, I can only use English as a medium of communication. However after
making a self evaluation I have found out which specific areas I need to improve for developing
my skill and competency as an operation manager.
