This operations management approach focuses on elimination of wastage while also
maintaining quality of production. The application of this operations management approach by
TESCO will help the company increase organisational efficiency and responsiveness which will
reduce unnecessary costs. The role of leader in this approach is to ensure that employee's jobs
contribute to consumer value by inspiring employees to enhance their performance. The lean
manager function is to optimize production process by effective resource allocation.
Just in time
This involves receiving suppliers only as they are needed (Anand and Gray, 2017). This
is a simplistic inventory method that provides low cost and high quality products to support

consumers because of operations management. This helped the company achieve success
during the pandemic which depicts the importance operations management.
Product quality: Operations management helps business firms identify areas where
quality can be improved so that quality standards can be improved regularly. TESCO is
able to regularly improve their products and offer products with high quality in order to
attract and retain consumers for a long time period. The importance of operations
management can be depicted by this as it has direct impact on the consumer base of the
firm.
Increases revenue: Operations management helps business firms increase their revenue
as it helps in elimination of wastage and continuous improvement of product quality.
