INTRODUCTION
Operation management is known as administration of business practices in order to
develop high level of efficiency in a possible way within an organisation. It is considered as a
converting materials as well as labour into finish products and services. Herein, project
management refers to the planning, managing, organising several kind of resources in order to
accomplish firm's goals and objectives in a proper mode. On the other hand, project management
also use as better understanding tool in order to make effective and appropriate decision to meet
future goals in an organisation. Present report is divided into 2 parts, whereas, 1st part will
depends upon Hot-Point firm that deals with several kind of home appliances. Herein, 2nd part
will based on HS2 project, it is a high speed railway project within United Kingdom. This plan is
going to under construction, whereas, 1st phase of this project has been launched in 1928. now a
days this project of railways is mainly linked with 21 destination in UK and it is the 2nd higher
line of speed within country (Artto, Ahola and Vartiainen, 2016). Furthermore, discussions will
be based on determining principles of operation management along with PLC has been described
which is helpful for firm to accomplish their project goals.

TASK 1
P1. Review and critique of implementation of Operation Management principles in context with
an organisation.
Operation Management plays significant role within an organisation through organising
different types of activities in order to check several functions and operation of business at
workplace. It is helpful for firms to remove wastage level for accomplish the entire project in a
perfect manner. There are different types of functions towards management which is attain
through operation management in order to meet customer's needs and wants. Apart from this
operation management has lots of principles those are going to be discussed below:
Accountability: On the behalf of this principle there are superiors and high authorities
always assigned task to its employees (Gilbert and et. al., 2015). They also check that they are
following organisation's rules regularly or not. With the help of this employees are able to
increase their working performance and able to meet desired goals of firm. In relation with Hot

Point, for gaining huge success at marketplace, they always check employee's performance day

Organisation: Within the firm there are lots of activities and functions which all are
operated by manager of an organisation. All sorts of functions are interrelated with each other
and well mannered. In reference with Hot-Point all functions are not manage properly than they
should use this principle of OM in order to maximisation of working performance towards
employees so that they can achieve its targeted goals (Fleming and Koppelman, 2016).
Change: It is an essential principle of OM which is used by so many firms to change
several technologies as well as trend. Herein, Hot-Point usually brings lots of technology and
new features within home appliances that makes them attractive.
Passion: In this principle of OM, Hot-Point has amazing developing passion about
unique tools and strategies for accomplish the product goals. For betterment of this aspect,
respective firm always encourage their employees towards work so that they can perform well
and make them passionate also. It would help firm to achieve high growth at marketplace.
Reality: During competitive scenario lots of organisation are facing so many problems in
regards with operation management. One of the biggest issue is technical problem which needs
to be concern by firm. In Hot-Point manager firstly identify overall needs and wants of
customers in relation with different products like electronics items and so on.
Value: Into the current scenario firm always provide different types of goods and
services to their customers with affordable price, it makes effective value of firm. In context with

reference with Hot-Point, management team always use operation management tools and
techniques by which they bring innovative features in products for gaining better outcome at
marketplace (Harrison and Lock, 2017). In order to make effective goodwill at marketplace this

Project Life Cycle refers to the sequence of different types of phases in which project
goes through its starting stage to closure. This life cycle is helpful for evaluating of time several
time activities in regards with new goods. According to this life cycle of project, managers are
able to measure endurance of goods into the marketplace. In reference with HS2, project team of
this railway projects adopt these sorts of phases in order to gain huge success. There are several
stages of PLC in context with HS2 project, mentioned in beneath:
Initial stage: Initiation phase mainly have purpose to identify and clear the project.
According to this project manager of HS2 project identify several needs and wants of passengers
within United Kingdom. After analysing project activities has been planned. So this project gives
highest speed railway services to people and save their entire time of travelling. So that it can
easily satisfy people and influence positively. Thus, they have been concluded present situation
of railways and than applied HS2 concept.
Planning stage: According to this stage of PLC, after accomplish first step. Here,
