Q.1 Opioid Epidemic addiction refers to the condition when the addictive opioid drugs
become misused and overused along with tangible social, medical and economic
consequences and moreover, it is also stated that the opioid overuse can also lead to death
among the people. In the late 1990s, the cases of the opioid misuse were enhanced greatly
and as consequences of these scenarios, the pharmaceutical companies in US reassured the
fact the medical professionals should not prescribe this drug for treating the pain conditions
and health care providers started to prescribe the drugs with a greater risk condition. By this
time, it was observed by the health care professionals the enhanced the prescription of the
opioid medications can lead to misuse of opioid drugs by the individuals and it became quite
clear that the overuse of opioids can cause addiction among the individuals. In this regard, it
can be stated that the individuals having the opioid addiction may face various behavioural
changes such as loneliness, loss of interests and sleepiness (US Department of Health and
Human Services, 2020).
Q.2 For combatting with the opioid epidemic condition a few measures can be recommended
and they are mainly as follows-
All the overdose related cases should be treated in an emergency basis and as a part of
this, the access to the health care services and recovery services should be enhanced.
The usage of overdose-reversing drugs must be promoted by the government.
Better options for managing pain conditions of the patients should be encouraged.
Awareness program must be launched by the government so that the people can have
better understanding of the epidemic conditions. As a result the individuals can take
adequate actions to prevent the disease conditions
Training program on pain management should be given to the individuals so that they
can avoid the uses of opioids (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2020).
