NETWORKED APPLICATIONS
Introduction
The report is prepared for analysing the details of OpManager and exploring the working of
the application in terms of real time network monitoring, physical and virtual server monitoring and
socio technical aspects of the network monitoring tool. The reports covers the details of the features
of the tool that can be used by the network admin for monitoring the performance of the network
and eliminate the challenges that are faced by the network manager for managing the network. The
management of the network is done for controlling the network device and checking the malicious
activity in the network. For the analysis of the network ManageEngine OpManager is selected that
can help in monitoring entry and exit of internet traffic. The interfaces and devices from a
centralized system can be monitored for designing alert system for excessive usage of bandwidth
and the links available for verifying the NetFlow data and traffic coming from unknown sources. With
the use of the tool the traffic of the business network and network of the clients can be managed. It
helps in monitoring the traffic quickly and generating alert on the system that helps the network
admin to take immediate action for the management of the network.
Task 1: Discussion of the following aspects of two OpManager
Applications
The OpManager is used as the network monitoring system and for controlling and
monitoring the entire network and analysing the failure and disconnections that are needed for
increasing the security and performance of the network. The network monitoring and management
is essential for a business network because it contains sensitive organizational information and the
illegal access of the network can cause a huge loss for the organization. OpManager is a powerful
network monitoring tool that is used by the enterprise for demonstrating the entire network as a
map (it can also be incorporated with google map). The devices connected in the network is shown
as a list such that the device can be seen on the map.
- Real Time Network Monitoring
It is essential to periodically check the network for auditing the performance but during the
technical problem in the network it is essential to analyse real time data. For example, if a high
utilization of bandwidth is reported for a particular switch port in a network it is the duty of the
network engineer to check live statistics of utilization of the particular switch port for analysing that
the problem in the network exists or not.

NETWORKED APPLICATIONS
Command line interface is used by the network administrator for the network device or the
remote desktop for checking the performance of the network. The use of OpManager with the
introduction of real-time monitoring functionality helps in enabling instant reporting of performance
of the device at a real time eliminating the need of another tool for accessing the device remotely.
During the degradation of network performance the real time graph is needed to be launched and
the second information is needed to be analysed about performance of the device and its health
status.
With the use of graphs generated from OpManager the network administrator can identify
the statistics of Memory and CPU utilization, information about the performance metrics of the
device, real time bandwidth or traffic utilization of the interface or ports of the network device. The

dashboard widget can eb used for configuring the performance graph that can help the
administrator monitoring the performance trend by login into the OpManager account.
- Physical and Virtual server monitoring
There is a comprehensive virtual server management option present in OpManager that helps in
identifying the bottleneck and troubleshooting the critical performance problems in the network.
Monitoring of hybrid virtual environment is also possible with the use of OpManager because it
provides key metrics on memory, processor, network usage and disk usage. The inventory and the
resources allocated for avoiding unnecessary proliferation can also be traced using the tool.
The visibility of the network and the application also plays an important role for looking at
the usage of application and analysing the resource utilization such that new models can be created
for identifying the application that are in long run and can cause server sprawls and bottleneck in
performance. The root cause of the bottleneck can also be analysed across the virtual, physical and
cloud infrastructure that have minimal reliance on the manual process.
- Socio technical principles of OpManager
For the management of socio technical principles a terms and condition is presented to the
user for accepting it for further usage of the application. The main purpose of the terms and policy
signup is to provide information about the software that are made available for downloading and
purchasing via the Manage Engine website. An evaluation version of OpManager is provided to the
user on trial basis on the basis of applicable terms and conditions that helps in allowing the user to
use the application and gain popularity due to its simplified user interface design and functionality
for identifying the vulnerabilities and fixes that can be made in the current network. The user is
prompted to purchase the commercial license of the software after the end of the evaluation period

with the implementation of an annual subscription fees. There are different types of commercial
licence offered to the user and the user can analyse the license that is best suited for their business.
A 24/7 technical support is provided to the user and it includes support via email, updates, online
access to product and upgrades without any additional cost. The sensitive information are kept
confidential under the laws of united states and thus the user of the software can feel secure and
the usability of the tool is increased.
Conclusion
From the above report it can be concluded that the OpManager is an excellent platform that
is used for monitoring the network and it can solve problem for increasing the efficiency of the
network. OpManager can be used for studying the bandwidth utilization and visualizing the firewall
logs such that the flaws in the configuration of firewall can be identified and the network can be
secured from the external agents. The management of Ip address is necessary increasing the
efficiency of use of Ip address and with the execution of OpManager the problem of packet loss and
errors in the network can be resolved. It can also analyse the configuration of the device connected
with the network along with the CPU, performance, usage of disk space, performance and memory
allocated for virtual and physical servers. The tool provides a guidance for faster and effective
operation and the graphical interface provided for management of the network is user friendly when
compared with the other network monitoring tools. Reports can be generated from the tool and for
each of the devices separate report can be obtained with the details of specific functionality. The
graphs of the network can show the details of the network at a real time. The tool is available at free
of cost but there are certain limitation of the free version i.e. 10 devices can be monitored but the
paid version of the tool is also affordable with some advanced features and it also provided 24/7
support to the customer.
