1. What network model would be the best choice for Blue Sky Optical? Compare and
contrast three networking topographies discussing the advantages and
disadvantages of each.
. According to the case internet -model would be the best choice for Blue Sky Optical.
For all the communication, this model use the internet. Moreover, this model consists of
4 layers
1 application layer.
2 transport layer.
3 internet layer.
4 link layer.
Star-Topology:
Blue sky optical requires star topology for network topography. To processed star topology
devices used like five workstations, printer, switch and computer. A switch would be the central
communication device and point of sale system, printer or other devices would connect to switch
for the communication. In that way printer or other devices assign cable or channel to switch.

Advantages of Star-topology:
Used of star topology cost cheap as compare to another topology. New nodes or devices
are very easy to connect with the switch. There are no impact on the other devices if one
device in down. After that, it is very helpful to monitor the network.
Disadvantages of star-topology:
 In star topology requires more length of cable as compared to liner bus topology.
 If the switch has a problem or down whole system will be down.
Ring Topology:
All the devices or system are connected in the circle in the ring topology. In that way,
information travels around the network in one direction. In that topology, all the
communication is down when cable break at any point.
Advantages of Ring
o In that topology doesn't need a switch for communication.
o Each computer excess equal information through this topology.
o Don't affect the performance of the network, if more component adds.

Disadvantages
It affects the entire network when one port is damage. its mean single point of failure.
Bus Topology: This bus topology is one of the old technologies, where all the devices
connect to the one cable with the terminators at both ends to absorb the signal. On both
sides of the cabled computer are connected for sending and receiving the information.
Normally coaxial cable or RJ-45 cable used for connecting the systems
Advantages of Bus topology:
o Bus topology is great for small networks. The whole network needs less cable as
compare to other.
o No hub or switch involves.
o Several computer or devices can be added with the backbone cable.
Disadvantages of Bus topology:
 When the network goes down, it's very hard to figure out the problem. In addition,
the whole network down if backbone cable down.
 Troubleshoot the individual devise issue would be very difficult.
 This is not a good idea to you bus topology for large networks.
Star topology perfectly fine for the Blue-Sky Optical situation, where switch or hub is connected
to all computer or devices and each computer or device to the switch has independent channel to
minimize the network traffic. In case one device is broke other work normally. This one is the
result-oriented solution.

2. What would be the advantages of selecting an Internet-based architecture for the
Blue-Sky Optical system?
Internet-based architecture has many benefits, its act as information delivery provides by
the web pages and collaborating program to deliver fast processing services. It can better
result, if Blue Sky Optical does request and response deal through the internet. Moreover,
to check the inventory report, in stock, analysis the sales from anywhere and also check
the availability of the stuff in the store. Furthermore, through internet portal number of
systems can be added if there is a plan to expand the business in future.
3. What would be the benefits of using a wireless network? What would be the
drawbacks?
Through wireless network sharing files is very easy and enable many devices to utilize
the same internet connection remotely. There will not add cost required for handheld
devices to access the web portal within a business center. Furthermore, for business
operations iPad, tablets, laptops and mobile phones become very popular and many
companies use iPad for merchandise their product in front of their office center. Guest
within a business center also uses the wireless network for work or pleasure. To Track the
high level asserts Blue Sky optical can use mobile devices
Disadvantage
the wireless network system is less secured, transferring data would be slow and provide
low speed. It's like difficult to set up properly.

4. What would be the pros and cons of selecting in-house development versus a
packaged solution for the Blue Sky Optical system?
Use of in-house development for Blu sky optical system requires a technical consultant.
Technical consultant develops the system, portal customized and setup environment. once
these step finish then business conditions should meet by a system.
Advantages.
The in-house application it is very easy to modify as on when required and will have
many customize features.
Disadvantage:
More effort, more funding for the development would be required
Bringing the packaged solution will save cost to the business. There won't be a development
cost, implementation cost. The system is developed, tested, implemented in many different
locations, we have exposure of feedback of the web interface. The tool will be customized as per
requirements. As there is a readily available developed solution, Blue sky optical can adapt the
solution feasible to the business requirement.
Advantages:
By using this can save time, effort and money. This is easily available in the market and
user friend.ly. Moreover, this is tested and well-tied programs. Little bit maintenance cost

Disadvantages:
If the system has more requirement, modification then more money added.
