Case Study
AI Summary
This case study examines the ethical failings of OrangeWerks, a new venture, highlighting several key issues. The company engaged in unethical practices, including downloading illegal software at the supervisor's command, making unethical business decisions outside the office, disregarding employee health and safety by not providing workplace accident insurance, and creating 15,000 fake accounts to boost app downloads. The solution involves a multifaceted approach, including a policy revision regarding online ethics and workplace safety, implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to structure business processes, and the development of a proper media kit to promote the application ethically. Recommendations include establishing an IT expert board to monitor digital practices, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations to prevent exploitation and legal issues. The case underscores the importance of ethical conduct and the necessity of proactive measures to ensure a responsible and sustainable business environment.

Recommendations
The first thing that has to be addressed is the download of an illegal software.. It was
commanded by the supervisor himself. OrangeWerks had developed an application
development platform, which allowed the users to create their own appl without any sort of
software training. There should be a proper revision of ethics on the online platform, and
accordingly, strict policy changes have to be implemented in the organization, for the purpose
of making sure that such issues do not rise again. There should be a separate board of IT
experts who would be responsible for tracking and monitoring the digital practices being
undertaken by the employees of the organization.
Secondly, since employees have been making unethical business decisions outside the
office, it is recommended that a proper and formal ERP system is implemented in the
organization that would be carrying out and structuring the business processes of the
organization. No other business practice would be possible within that framework.
The third thing to notice is the intentional ignorance of the managers in terms of
health and safety of the workers. The Ontorio Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
(WSIB), had sent an e-mail which claimed that the employees of the OrangeWerks do not get
the benefits of the safety of the workplace accidents. They fall under the direct violation of
the workplace safety standards. Health and safety is the basic right that any employer must be
offering to the workers, failing to do which, may even result in legal issues. This is because it
falls under the grounds of exploitation (Hoffman, Burke & Zohar, 2017). This is why proper
health and safety measures must be incorporated in the organizational policies of the
organization.
Lastly, regarding fake accounts for app downloads, it has to be noted that this is a
deceitful measure aimed at persuading target customers and earning revenues. During the file

clean-up procedure of the OrangeWerks,a nd while transferring the files, a deleted email had
been recovered. It had been founded that the e-mail contained almost 15,000 fake accounts,
which had been created in order to download a CIC program. Thus, deceit also is a part of
exploitation (Jones & Paulhus, 2017), and hence, the application must be promoted through a
proper media kit in an ethical manner.
Therefore, the plan of action involves policy changes based on revision of online
ethics and workplace safety as the first step, and implementation of an appropriate ERP
system as a second. The final step to take would be to identify and use a proper media kit for
the promotion of the online application.
