Introduction
The main motive of this paper is to outline the significance of learning and further it also
explains that how this learning can be applied in Caltex. The approaches of learning have also
been explained in the task.
Impact of learning on the organizational behavior and how Caltex apply this learning
It is true that learning plays a significant role in each and every company to motivate and
encourage the workers towards the achievement of long term goals and objectives. Along with
this, learning is essential for employee engagement and innovative behavior within the
organization (Taylor, Edward and Patricia, 2012). If the company wants to achieve
environmental sustainability then it needs to focus on the learning and development. Learning
creates an environment where a company uses its knowledge assets successfully and efficiently.
In other words, learning has strong and unique impact on the financial performance and
productivity of the firm (Taylor, Edward and Patricia, 2012).
Caltex is a petroleum brand name of Chevron Corporation which is used in approx 60 countries
in the Middle East, Asia pacific and Southern Africa (Caltex, 2018). The company uses learning
as a modification of work behavior at the workplace. By applying learning, the firm has been
able to reach and attain its commercial objectives and goals (Caltex, 2018). With the help of
learning, Caltex further is able to handle and manage the challenges and risks of the market.
Caltex is one of the biggest companies who passionate about job creation and generating ample
of opportunities in the Australia (Wood et al 2015).
Approaches of learning and how Caltex apply these theories
There are four general approaches of learning that include classical conditioning, cognitive
learning, operant conditioning and social learning. The classical conditioning may be defined as
learning process in which a biologically potent stimulus with an effective and unique neutral
stimulus (Taylor, Edward and Patricia, 2012). Operant conditioning approach is a tool of
learning that occurs through punishments and awards for behavior. The cognitive theory is

affected by extrinsic and intrinsic elements which ultimately bring about learning in a person. On
the other hand, social learning theory is an approach of learning and behavior that addresses new
behavior and actions acquired by others. Caltex can use these approaches to conduct business
activities and operations successfully and efficiently. The company can make unique policies for
rewards and punishments with the help of operant conditioning theory. On the other hand, social
theory helps in learning new behavior and action of people. Further, two approaches classical
and cognitive theories can also be used by Caltex to minimize and prevent the risks and
challenges of the market (Taylor, Edward and Patricia, 2012).
Conclusion
It concludes from the above mentioned analysis that Caltex can easily use learning approaches to
overcome the competitors and to attain desired goals and objectives.
