Introduction
The organizational behavior is responsible for the performance of the company and the
sustainability of the company. There are various constraints that are responsible for the
employees and the organization performance. For example motivation is one of the major
elements in the organization that are molding the employee’s behavior towards the sustainable
performance of the employees and the environmental sustainability of the enterprise. The
report’s purpose is to assess the ways through which the influence of environmental
sustainability over the organizational behavior. Moreover, the effect of motivation and
empowerment will be analyzed towards the organization to remain environmentally sustainable.
Thereafter, the managerial recommendation will be made so as to keep the organization
environmentally sustainable (Amabile and Rigolizzo 2015).

Environmental sustainability and how will it influence organizational
behavior
Sustainability includes the constant existence of the constraint, where the environment is the
major factor that will reflect the continuation of saving non-renewable energy and rate of
pollution creation is being in control. The company is using the resources that may be non-
renewable in nature like emery, electricity, water consumption. However the organization
product process or value chain system may be responsible for the depletion of non-renewable
resource or creation of the variable that may harm the environment. A company needs to be
environmentally sustainable so as to make the resource available for the next generation and will
not harm the planet as a whole. The organization ethics, values and culture that will be
responsible for the actions taken by the employees while performing the business activities, that
is considering the impact on environmental sustainability (Cabral and Mathiason 2015).
The efforts for integrating and creating the sustainability practice in the enterprises reflects the
relevance of change management in the organization and learning the innovation and change
implementation for a successful organization. For an organization to be environmentally
sustainable there must be pro-environmental behavior, awareness, and attitudes among the
employees of the organization, which will reflect the sustainability. Moreover one of the major
influences of the environmental sustainability for the organizational behavior includes the
change initiative in the company (Kolk 2016).
The evidence depicts that the environmental attitude and beliefs in the organization will result
into employee motivation where the enterprise requires maintaining the balance between the
environmental value and the employees of the organization, which is another major influence

environmental attitude. The attitude and believes of the individual will be affected for the

Motivation and Empowerment
Motivation is the factors that are responsible for persuading an individual to perform in a
particular direction. This will be helpful to inspire the employees in the organization to change
the activities and behavior. Moreover the empowerment includes providing employees with a
certain degree of responsibility and autonomy for decision making that are particular to the task
provided to the employees in the organization. This will include the responsibility regarding the
commitment towards the environmental sustainability which may reflect through the employee's
behavior in this regard. From the research it can be identified that as per the manager’s
perception empowerment and employee motivation would be helpful for the company to
maintain environmental sustainability. If the employees of the company are working towards
environmental constraint voluntarily and without any reward it may not go beyond the job
description of the employees. His reflect the need for employee motivation and employee
empowerment and playing role towards the environmental behavior and result in
environmentally sustainable organization. Motivational factors implied by the managers
regarding keeping the organization sustainable include the environmental training, promotion of
innovation and change that will reflect the change considering the environmental friendly
activities and process. The most important aspect is the procurement of raw material which will
reflect the organization’s environment sustainability (azocleantech 2019).

It is important to change the attitude and beliefs of the employee regarding the greener
organization, which could be done by motivating the employees. The motivation can include
implication of various motivations factors like financial and non financial aspect. The
recognition program regarding the generation of environmental sustainable idea will reflect the
employee empowerment and employee motivation to sustain environmental behavior and
attitude. Moreover, this will also improve the employee or organizational commitment towards
the environmental behavior of the employees towards the organizational performance as it
mediates the relationship among the employee's perception regarding the support from
organization for OCBE and environmental efforts. Therefore, it can be said that the role of
employee empowerment and motivation are quite high in order to remain organization
environmentally sustainable (Tari 2015).
Recommendation to the manager
Some of the recommendations to the manager while working with the team in order to keep the
environment and make the employees perform towards the environmental sustainability include
1. Brainstorming activities
In order to maintain environmental sustainability, it is important that to get the ideas from
employee’s suppliers, and customer. Thus it can be said it is important o integrate the
performance of all the supply chain activities to maintain the same. Thus through brainstorming
activities, the manager can get the ideas from the employees regarding the environmental
improvement while performing the tasks within the organization. Through this activity
organized by the manager for the teams will also make them feel part of the sustainability plan,
which will increase the environmental behavior by the employees (Soranno 2014).

2. Cross functional team
Cross functional team is a team that is combination of the employees from various functional
departments that are competent enough to be responsible for accomplishment of the project. In
order to increase the innovation and change within the organization towards the environmental or
greener option considering the new product development or the process may be done through the
selection and development of the cross functional team within the organization. Moreover, it can
be said that the combination of the competencies from various functional department, where the
personnel from the environment control, quality control, procurement ad allocation team, and the
operational team may work with their best capability along with consideration of the
environment behavior due to presence of members from that functional unit as well (Kolk 2016).
