Maslow Hierarchy need of Theory is one of the most important concept which plays the
essential role in motivating the employee to perform better. But, it is among one of the theory
which says that human has some of the basic needs which must be fulfilled. Needs increases
when specific needs are completed. There are basically five different stages in this theory and
they are:
Physiological Needs: It is the primary stage where it becomes necessary for the business
organisation like TESCO to try to meet out the basic needs of employee which includes
air, water, food, cloths etc. (Chumg and et. al., 2016).
Safety Needs: Once physiological needs are met, employees want safety and security to
secure their future and for that is necessary for organisation like TESCO to provide safety
against accident and injury, health and wellness and financial security is also required to
be provided.
Social Needs: After meeting out both the needs, employees wants friendship, family,
social group to stay from depression or anxiety. Here, organisation like TESCO can
develop the friendly environment where teams should be formed for performing any of
the task. This will allow them to meet social needs.

particular stage, employee of TESCO Plc must be able to prove himself/herself about the
presence due to which huge difference is created (McShane and et. al., 2018).

Self-actualisation: It is the last needs where employee of TESCO should be able to reach
that particular position where they can allow him to take important decision and believe
in himself that the decision which has been taken by him are correct and goals oriented.
Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory of Motivation: It is explained as the theory which tries to get
to the root of motivation within the workplace which plays the crucial role in current scenario.
This mainly includes two factor i.e., motivational factor and Hygiene Factor.
Hygiene Factor: This is the factor which requires for motivating the employees within
the organisation like TESCO Plc. In order to meet out this particular needs company must
pay amount according to talent and skill, job security to the employee and many more.
Motivational Factor: In context of TESCO Plc, it is necessary for their management to
motivate their employees so that they can perform as per the requirement of a company.
To meet out this needs, company requires to provide growth and promotional
opportunity, giving responsibility and many more (Waterson, 2018).
Talking about the linkage between both the theories is that both of them discusses about the
importance of motivating the employee for accomplishing the business goals. If in any of the
situation company is not able to meet out the requirement then in that respective condition, it will
become very difficult to expect positive result from the side of employees in attaining the goals.
Also, both the theories discuss about the fulfilment of requirement that an employees has as it
plays the crucial role in it.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that organisational behaviour is one of the
important concept for the business organisation. It becomes crucial for organisation to allow their
employee to meet out their needs in order to accomplish the goals of an organisation.
