INTRODUCTION
The term Organisation behaviour is study of Human behaviour, where it relates to those
traits and attributes which induces an impact on individual and group at specific organisation
workplace (Ahmad and et. al., 2018). A human behaviour is very multiplicative element of study
of different that support to the manager to formulate the strategies through actions and effective
decision making to handle the workforce. There is necessity of having of effective workplace
proper communication at workplace that ensures the effective execution of all business activities
to accomplish the customer satisfaction (Barbaranelli and et. al., 2019).
For considering the organisation from retail industry as taken Asda Stores Ltd. It is a
British super market retailer headquarter in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Company was founded in
1949 and currently number of employees are 1,65,000 with annual revenue of 791.7 million
pounds. In this following report the topics are involves the relationship of organisation culture,
politics, power and its impact on individual as well as team behaviour and performance (Burnes,
B., Hughes, M. and By, R.T., 2018). The discuss of content and process theory of motivation as
well as difference between effective and ineffective team. In addition it is required to study the
organisation behaviour concept and theories.

P1. Interpret the how the organisational culture, politics and power influence the individual and
team behaviour.
The different form of companies growth or success in market environment is depends on
the culture, power and politics that create an impact to the individual and team member. These
three factor changes the organisation behaviour by brings the disciplinary working environment,
enhance the individual and team performance increased (Chou and et. al., 2019). The system of
shared values and attitudes is set that how an individual performance in the business. This factor
induces to direct impact on the people and their direct action as well as it leads to decrease the
overall productivity. Meanwhile, politics is defines about the norms and procedures are having
interference of any firm to sustain in kind of surroundings. Power reflects about someone

individual who has delegate to change the organisation work process which allows benefits.
There is explanation of organisation culture, power, politics in context of Asda Stores :
Organisational Culture: It is basically determines to be highlights the specific organisation's
Rituals, Belief, values, means and language that have to abide by the employees to proper
understand the culture. By having as well as to create the positive culture of Asda Stores that
helps in proper to controlling and monitoring the employees performance and behaviour for
internal and external purpose (Dixit and Singh, 2019). Furthermore, the organisation culture
assists in developing employees interest, healthy workforce with better relationship with each
other.
To opting the Charles Handy typology theory four kind of culture proceeds through an
organisation. Power Culture: It is one of the type of dominance of individual or small number within
the organisation. It helps to form a decision making with the work relate of the
organisation. The internal culture of Asda company is having excellence participation of
employees in every decision making on the basis of guidelines that reforms for Asda
business growth. Task Culture: In this culture type, it only get proceeds when formation of team executed
to complete the specific tasks to attaining the common objectives. A different teams have
distinct culture that makes the team and their working style more innovative. As in Asda
Stores, they presumes to formal team for making them motivate to work only on
particular objectives. Person Culture: This culture is created when in the organisation individuals to allows to
makes their own decision making for their working plans to execute. As in Asda Stores ,
it mainly implies of this culture when the employees are having self development through
training and self directed to perform work by using set skills and knowledge.
Role Culture: Through this factor of culture is allows when the wide organisation where
employees are having clarity about their job roles and duties where they need to perform
to specify the goal accomplishment (Forssell., 2018). In the perspective of Asda Stores,
manager makes to understand about to every individual's roles and responsibilities
towards the job roles.

From above organisation culture in the perspective of Asda Stores, as they follows Role Culture
in their premises that helps to make each individual understands about their job roles and
responsibility where it makes the flexible the working culture. As it create an impact individual
in terms of their learning and also develop the confidence towards accepting the changes easily
by assorting to their skills and knowledge in systematic way. In other hand it impact on team
when they work on some specific goals the proper communication is required and having strong
decision making to resolve the problem. After to measure the overall culture it helps to increase
the work performance and effective coordination.
Organisation Politics: According to this behaviour trait of organisation is refers about the
induces behaviour that designed to implement or highlight those activities that are not required as
part of formal role in the organisation but that influence to control overall structure of
organisation (Hackett and et. al., 2018). Politics is formed by organisation is formed by manager
that helps to lead effective decision or judgement to determine and handle employees. The
politics of Asda Stores is properly understood by some elements that create an impact on the
behaviour and performance that described below such as:
Productivity decreases: Due to effective politics is would create many doubts and
grievances of employees it happens because the company manager spends their whole
time on observing with their co-workers where they get distract from their work. To
making comments and leg pulling can get the other employees disturbed and they could
not even focuses to deliver their better performance.
Effective Control: Through having better politics environment in organisation can helps
to bring some benefits in terms of performance control, policies driven in internal
premises in the organisation. Similarly, in Asda Stores the control in employees are very
effectively handle because it maintain the discipline in the organisation.
Spoiling of environment: There is another negative implication of politics as it creates
the working environment of Asda Stores Workplace disturbs the relation among the co-
worker or superiors. It can disturb the relation between superior and employees that
create an impact in their performances.
Through the organisational politics its impact on Individual employee to their
competency where they could perform better and it would have direct impact on Asda Stores
productivity and generates profit maximisation. While, the impact on team member also get

Organisational Power: According to this power, it refers to the capability of influencing and
managing employees in systematic oriented to manage and monitor the performance in
organisation. In another words, the organisation power is comprise the ability of one person or
department in organisation which induces an impact towards other people to bring the desirable
outcomes (Hashim and et. al., 2018). As per the context of Asda, the organisation power is
prevails in premises that assigned to the individual who able to control overall activities. There
are some different type of power is described below: Reward Power: According to this power, it enhance to felicitate the reward only when
individual or team employees generates the positive outcomes towards the organisation
goals. The rewards in form of high pay structure, promotion, incentives and bonuses.
Similarly, in Asda company, the retailer able to control the remuneration with reward
system as per the employees having expectancy. Coercive Power: This power is vice-versa from reward, where it implies the power that
depends on the negative result, this can be demoralise the individual and team employees
motivation factor that implies only through frustration movement of Asda Stores.
Legitimate power: In this factor of power is defines that individual who have assigned
the power that instruct to the employees effectively. Similarly, the managers of Asda
Stores are highly uses their power to providing the task and also giving the guidance
about to approach it in effective manner.
The power of organisation is follows in Asda Stores company is Reward Power,
through this it having an impact on individual where they deliver the optimum performances to
increase their productivity level and another impact of power in team employees get engaged
with their work with better coordination and enhance the guidance where they perform
effectively to accomplish the objectives.

Motivation: It is a process of initiative or provide the proper guidance to maintain the
goal oriented behaviour. It basically works on to influence to individual or group member
towards the specific goal.
Content Theory process: According to this theory is stats about to accomplish the basic needs
and wants of which it provide to motivate the employees.
McClelland Theory of motivation: In this theory it has been introduced at the year of 1960's . It
stats about the every person traits and desire to accomplish their goal in the three factor which
constructed in McClelland theory is Needs of Achievement, power and affiliation affect the
actions of people through managerial context. As the factor are explains in the perspective of
Asda Company employees goal achievement perspective such as: Need for Achievement: In this form of motivation depicts about the people desirable
goals which they are highly possessed to accomplish it in any situation. These type of
people are highly motivate as well as huge risk taker in consideration of accomplish the
objectives (Islam and et. al., 2018). In Asda Stores, there are many employees who are
higher achiever towards their organisational goals, they constantly focuses towards their
aim and that makes their productivity increases. Need of Affiliation: It is form of motivation that comprise from being obsessed towards
the objective the pain of being rejected. They are very friendly in nature and keen to
making relationship with others. As in Asda Stores, managers are being kind of affiliation
where they majorly focuses towards the coordinating with other and having healthy
relationship.
Needs of power: According to this kin of behaviour is to individual who is having
authority to control and influence the behaviour. In the Asda company, top level of
managers and other department superior are use to manage and control the employees
performance and behaviour.

target completions but it also raise the opportunity for organisation (Mansouri., Singh, and
Khan., 2018). There are four stages of Tuckman theory model that uses by Asda company with
better understanding points: Forming: It is the first stage to form a team as well as to making interact with each
others. Team forms with the instruction of the leader and provided the guidance
effectively. Storming: According to this stage, all team member contribute efforts to develop the
better relationship with others (Lee, Nie and Bai, 2020). It also instruct about the team
member to focus towards one objective. Norming: After setting the target, it is must to make a decision and discuss with team
member and being committed to it. By having discussion, it helps to get to know about
different leadership style and alternatives to approach the task.
Performing: By getting all the essential point related with task and well aware about to
pursuing the objective. The team member having a main focuses is to form strategy and
commence the work according to that or instruction by leader.

manger as instruction and in straight way. So, they can perform in systematic manner and

achieve set goals and objectives (Rakna, 2018). In Asda Stores, can enhance the morale and
overall job satisfaction towards the employee point of view. Through some leader behaviour
style each individual employee is having traits and attributes which motivate them.
There are four major type of leader behaviour in context of Asda Company:
Directive: In this leadership behaviour traits is defines about leader instruct to their
people about to approach their task or objectives in form of making systematic plans
that implies how to do and what to do that guidance given by leader. Supportive: According to this leadership, it shows the concerned towards employees or
workers by leader as well as support them in their work as in friendly way (Sheedy,
Garcia and Jepsen, 2019). It is most attractive approach where it also helps to build the
better relationship between managers and employees. Participative: In this factor of leader behaviour describes that the time of decision
making formation leader consult with their fellow mates. It is most interactive session
between leader and employees to provide them high trained skill work.
Achievement: This is most challenging set goals to their workers, where an effective
leader expects high form og performance from their subordinates along with to show
confidence in their ability to meet their expectation.

suitable for their theory of Supportive, as leader could easily help and volunteer to their
