Background
This reflective case study is based upon the famous and leading Retail Company dealing in
beauty products in Australia and the main focus of this case study is to notice the respond of the
team or an individual of an organization in the changing business environment. This case study
depicts the experience of Chief Executive officer (CEO) named Richard Fuld of the retail
company who was accountable for assigning the relevant duties and responsibilities to all the
workforce of different departments. It is the responsibility of the business executive to regulate
the business function in such a way that supports in achieving the goals of the organisation. As
an in charge of the company, the executive officer is responsible for creating and achieving the
goals of the company and also accountable to work closely with the upper-level staff as well as
assistants. Team of the Chief Executive officer (CEO) is work for the achievement of both the
long term and short-term goals and plans of the business. Business executive supports in to
oversee the different areas of the company such as finance, legal services, and marketing. It is
the primary responsibility of the executive officer to manage and control their respective actions.
The executive officer is also responsible to plan and organise several business functions that help
in the achievement of the goals. To accomplish all the above role and duties, the Chief Executive
officer (CEO) works with his team of five members. The main members of this team include
Staff chief (Tom Anselmi), Chief operational officer (Danial Smith), Manager of the production
department (Donald Guloien), Manager of sales department (Robert Stampel), Manager of
finance department (Michael clerk).
Duties and responsibilities of all the members of the team
The above members of the team are accountable to regulate all the assigned duties and
responsibilities that are assigned by the Chief executive officer and reporting about their progress
of working on a daily basis. All the team members are responsible to serve relevant and
important information to the CEO by building the relationship of trust. It is significant that all the
team members will perform their duties in a fair and transparent manner for the achievement of
the goals of the business. The subordinates of the CEO are accountable for performing assigned
duties. Duties and responsibilities of all the members of the team are mentioned below:

the staff of the lower department has to report
all their daily progress to their Chief. Further,
he also has the duty to resolve all the
grievances in relation to its staff and give their
effective solutions. Further, it is his
responsibility to communicate the staff
problems to the CEO so that effective steps
can be taken out to resolve such issues.
Under his supervision and leadership, the staff
performs their duties fairly.
Chief operational officer (Danial Smith) COO is responsible to oversee the different
business lines in relation to the designing of
the product, development, and improvement
in the stages while delivering the end and
finished product to the consumers. He is
responsible to handle the internal as well as
external affairs of the business by facing out
communication. He helps in communicating
the policies top the employees as well as also
helps out the team, of HR to build an effective
and efficient team. Under his supervision, the
operation of the business runs successfully.

demands. He pursues his duties that help in

needs of the customers (Saunderson, 2017, pp.62). Due to this, it directly impacts over the sales
department, it was found that due to such wrong assumption under the leadership and
management of production manager there is a shortage of the products which directly hamper
over the revenue of the company. Due to this, the financial budget and calculation are also
disturbed due to wrong entries in the accounts which results in the preparation of the wrong
financial statements. This impacts on overall the functions of the employees to serve the
customers as per their needs in an effective and efficient manner. Further, it is noticed that the
relationship between the COO and CEO is not on good terms and if it is than the CEO provide
additional opinion and advice for the healthy operations in the company. If such an issue is
timely communicated to the CEO, then timely effective and efficient steps should be taken by the
CEO to resolve such issues. Further, it is important that managers should communicate with
each other to bring transparency and supervise and advice each other if something wrong is
happening (Johnson, 2015, pp 18).

with all the team members so that no such issues arose. Although he is an operational officer, it

practices in the department so that if any issue was there, it can timely be communicated and
resolved. For this purpose, it is important he should be connected with the staff for eliminating
any obstacles at the place of occupation. Further, there should be an open-door policy that
supports increasing the employees’ morale and to make them feel that they are the part of the
team.
