Week 5: Activity perception and individual decision making
The last movie, which I witnessed, was Annabelle Comes Home and being a horror
movie lover, I enjoyed the story and the presentation of the movie. I must appreciate
the ten year old girl of the paranormal investigators Lorraine Warren and Ed Warren.
Being a small girl, she has that courage to survive within the paranormal activities,
when her parents were not present at home. She spent the whole night with her
baby sitter and her friend under such circumstances. After awakening the evil spirit
of Annabelle, even in the locked room, couple of unnatural things started to happen.
However, the small brave girl was capable to protect herself and also her
companions (Trianni, Cagno and Farné, 2016). The way she survived, did attract me
the most.
On the contrary, my friend did not enjoy the much since she was expecting
something more horror like the first series of Annabelle. Her expectation did not
match with the reality and hence, het purpose of watching of most awaited horror
movie did not meet.Though the acting was good of all of the actors, however, the
story line was not so strong, that it could attract the attention of the horror movie
lovers (Mitchell, 2019). Moreover, the presentation and the story telling were not so
eye-catching, that one could wish for watch this movie again.
Week 6: Motivation
The cabin crew employees need to be responsible to improve the scrutiny process
before boarding for the safety purpose. Since, maintaining of safety is one of the
critical and essential things for flying to the destination, therefore, the management
of the airlines industry require to organise motivational as well as required training
program for the staff (Machmud and Sidharta, 2016). This helps to grow the
communication between the passengers and the staff and hence, the scrutiny
process would be easier to conduct. The passengers would also cooperate to
accomplish the process to the staff and in turn, the cabin crew would be able to
receive a warm response from the end of the travellers. Consequently, the entire
process can be accomplished in the hassle free process.As per the statement of
Elahi and Hosseini (2018), the training program would be significant to make the

cabin crew aware about the greetings process to the traveller. In addition, the staff
would be able to know how to inform the passengers about the scrutiny process, so
that the passengers would not feel weird, instead of it, they would like to co-operate
the staff in the process. This would in turn help to build strong workplace
environment.
Week 7: Group behaviour and team work
I am playing the role of leader for directing the team members and try to help them
out to successfully accomplish the registration process. I am leading 20 team
members and categorise them into five sub groups for accomplishing several types
of required works for the registration process. Firstly, for making the group
performance successful, I target to emphasize the collaboration among the team
mates, so that conflict can be avoided and consequently, the understanding among
them can be developed. It is the backbone of accomplishing a successful team work
(Lorinkova and Perry, 2019).
Three sub groups would start to accumulate data on different segments like
reviewing of the degree processes, applying admission application and conference
with the academic expert (Hutting et al., 2017). After completing the data collection
process, the members would submit the information to me and then, as per my
instruction, the rest of members would help all of the group members in completing
the registration form. This is my perception that the internal communication and
bonding among the team mates would lead to make the agenda successful.
Week 8: Leadership
Trait theory refers that theleadership attributes is inherent and this is the
reason of treating them as the inborn leader. On the contrary,behavioural
leadership theory shows that the people, who have potential or have the
characteristics of becoming the leader, would be eligible for leading the team.
In this context, it can be stated that for becoming a behavioural leader, he
needs to learn such leadership characteristics since these are not inherent
(Conger, 2015). The examples of both the trait theory and behavioural
leadership are the British Monarchy system and the president of the

democratic nation respectively.More specifically, in case of monarchy system,
the leader is chosen in a cyclical manner and he only needs to perform the
ceremonial duties while the citizens of the democratic countries chose the
president of the nations based on their behaviour and leadership power.
In most of the cases, the management of the organisationsprefer to choose
their leader depending on his approach of leading a team or his behaviour
with the team members. It is very important to notice, especially for motivating
the group members towards the organisational goal. This nature is required
for those leaders, who are fresher for this designation. Apart from this, the
leaders need to experience in the similar position. For instance, Andrew
Stewart Mackenzie is the successful CEO of BHP Billiton (World’s largest
mining firm), who was the chief executive of the Industrial mineral segment of
Rio Tinto (the rival firm of BHP Billiton) (Klenke, 2016). This refers that
efficiency and the leadership power has elected him as CEO of the world’s
largest mining sector. He has been successfully playing his roles and
responsibilities.
Week 9: Power and politics
University leader needs to have the potential of representing the university
apart from leading the students. Excellent leadership power of the university
leader would be beneficial for maintaining the discipline in the university
premises (Duyvendak, 2019). He needs to be courageous and well-
mannered, so that everybody would be ready to listen to their leader.
In order to choose the optimum leader for the university, the involvement and
the decision of the administrative section is not necessary to consider. The
administrative department is bound to accomplish the official duties efficiently.
It is necessary to delegate the power of the leader to the fellows, so that the
future generation can also take the responsibility and can successfully
accomplish their duties (Blowers, 2017).
Week 10: Conflict and negotiations
Sufficient discussion among the members is ideal for the purpose of resolving
the argumentative issues. In this context, the leaders need to influence the

group members not to misunderstand the co-staff. In addition, for avoiding
conflict and misunderstanding among the group members, the leaders ask the
staff to solve the matter unless trying to blame to the others. Each of the
members need to be calm and quite during the issue solving situation (Paoli
and Telles, 2018). It would help to improve the collaboration instead of leaving
the matter unspoken; otherwise it would increase the conflicts more and
would take a devastating form.
Effective negotiation would be fruitful to solve the matter instead of
considering the winning or losing situation. Better, they need to understand
the importance of resolving the matter rather than continuing the conflicts. It is
noted, unless having the team collaboration and good understanding among
the team mates, it is not possible to increase the transparency among the
group members as well as is not possible to solve the matter (Robbins et al.,
2017).
I think silence would be more terrific compared to the conflict among the team
members. It would increase the misunderstanding among the members
massively. Moreover, one member would not get opportunity to mitigate the
wrong perception about him in the mind of the rest of the members (Kayi-
Aydar, 2018). Therefore, it can be recommended that open discussion has
positive reflection in the team in developing a good understanding.
Consequently, everybody in the group would be able to infer their views and
feedback towards the others. This is how the unnecessary misunderstanding
and conflicts among the group members can be prevented.
Week 11: Organisational change
Effect of three sustaining innovations:
Sustaining innovation is the bringing of improvement on the existing items.
For instance, improvement of mobile camera quality day by day. After
purchasing a phone of a specific brand, I found that within next two months,
the company has released a new phone which has more features in terms of
almost similar price. This was the problem I faced in case of sustaining
innovation.

Delivery system of Amazon has been improved with the help of sustaining
innovations. The organisation is taking the help of drone for the delivery
purpose and after placing the order through online, it is possible to receive the
order very quickly (Reinhardt and Gurtner, 2015).
Sustaining innovation in the automobile industry gave additional pleasure to
the riders during driving.
Effect of three disruptive innovations:
Robotic surgery is considered as the disruptive innovation in the health care
sector, which helps the doctors to successfully accomplish the critical and
complex operations.
Google has planned to bring driverless cars in the market and hence, the
riders will not need to be worried about the driving (Nagy, Schuesslerand
Dubinsky, 2016). This is the disruptive innovation in the automobile industry.
For offering the flexibility during carrying the smart phones, the smart phone
companies have planned to invent and bring folding phones, so that it can be
carried in a customised way, even in a small sized wallet.
