INTRODUCTION
The organisation Behaviour is a detailed study about the people in the organisation. It consist the
behaviour of an individual as well as group. It focuses n the people nature and characteristics within the groups how
they interact with each other. The main purpose behind the study of the organisational behaviour is to identify the
scientific approach that can be applied in the management for the workers. They are more applicable in human
resource field which helps in maximising the group efforts and helps in the increment in the outcomes levels of an
individual. The city college is a private college established n the northwest London and covers a huge amount of staff

members for their work performance (Wickramasinghe and Perera, 2014). They focus on several departments like
department of human resource, teaching departments and the administration department. They college provides
several learning opportunities to their students in the different educational fields. The enterprise rent a car is an
enterprise dealing with cars consist a staff of more than 7500 people they had a great expansion in their business and
also know by the largest car purchaser company in the world. The report consists the detailed information of the
various leadership styles and the motivational theories for reaching certain motivation level of employees. The team
building in the organisation and its importance in the work performance are also highlighted.
TASK1
1.1Compare and contrast different organisational structures and culture
An organistaion structure is a blueprint of the organisation that how the work is going to be performed and the
behaviour against the employees in the organisation. There are different types of organisational structure present in
the organisation. They are
Product based- It consist the organisation which are based on the product basis
Function based- These are such type of organisation who are divided on the functional department basis
Geographical based- There structure is divided on the basis of the geographical level where they are located.
Multifunctional based- The combination of the product and functional structure knows as multi based. As it
perform various actions.
The comparison in the organisation structure in the city college and the enterprise rent a car leads to consist various
differences in their culture and the organisation structure. The city college has a flat structure the decision level is
quick whereas the rent a car enterprise is having a bureaucratic structure which takes a lots of time in the decision
making. The hierarchy level is small and the communication is effectively occurs in City College and in the car
enterprise is large in size as they have a great expansion of their business in several regions and the communication
passes through certain levels (Solomon, Russell-Bennett and Previte, 2012. ). The city college’s structure is flexible
in nature whereas the enterprise car a rent organisation structures are more rigid and complex in nature.
1.2Explain how the relationship between an organisation’s structure and culture can impact on the performance of a
business
There is a close relationship between the organisation structure and the organisation culture both influences
each other significantly and also effects on the performance of the organisation. The organisational culture includes
the values offers y the managers in the organisation. The components of the organisation culture include the beliefs,
values, languages. Organisation culture also defines the dress code, working hours and the client satisfaction.
Organisation structure includes the work performance, the strong relationship between the supervisor and their
subordinates which affects the organisation environment. They detailed about the hierarchy level and the reporting

according to it. The enterprise like car a rent based on the bureaucratic structure leads to an complex working and
people does not feel so encouraged in the organisation and the enterprise have certain level of hierarchy and people to
have to reach various level which makes the decision level slow n nature. The work leads to an ambiguity state. The
working environment is not suitable (Mendes and Stander, 2011). As in the city college the work is performed
smoothly each individual performs effectively as they get suitable working environment for the work performance.
The culture and the structure both have an equally responsible for the work performance in the organisations. Both
should be equally maintained in the proper ratio for the smooth work performance.
1.3Discuss the factors which influence individual behaviour at work
There are several factors that influence individual behaviour at the work as each individual resists from
different state of nature and have different point of view towards organisation. The various factors are which
influence the behaviour of employees in the city college and the enterprise are:
Leadership- The leaders and the managers are the most essential components in the organisation. They are the main
elements in influencing the behaviour of an individual in the organisation. The leaders are responsible for providing
accurate directions to their subordinates and provide them brief knowledge about their organisation and make them
feel comfortable at the workplace. The leaders and the managers must aims at providing a proper guidance level to
their employees in their daily operation performance and helps in developing the skills and personality of the
employees. Leader must have some traits which influence their subordinate to follow them.
Skills- Each individual posse the different skills. As due to differentiation in the employees skills level all employees
behaves different in the particular situation. Every employee has certain thinking capacity in the different situations.
Work culture- The work culture affects the work performance. The comfortable and suitable culture in the working
will able to employee to work more effectively in the organisation.
Attitude- Attitudes are the behaviour against each other on the situations and on certain things. The positive attitude
towards the things leads to more beneficial.

Leadership is a process of leading the people as a group and influencing the behaviour of an individual. The
different organisation adapts different types of leadership style for their working. The different leadership styles
which can be adapted by the city college and the enterprise are:
Autocratic style- The autocratic styles consist is method in which only the top level and the superiors have the powers
have to take powers. This is a commanding type of power. The enterprise of car can adopt this style for the

adapt this style of style in the working for connecting more towards their working people.

The organisation theory is a study that defines the organisation structure and the design of the organisation. It
helps in evaluating the original structure of the organisation and helps in identifying the various suggestions and the
offers that leads to an effective performance and analysing the performance and how it can get improved (Barnard,
2012). There are different types of organisational theories mainly as the scientific management theory, human
relation approach, system approach, classical administration and the contingency approach. The enterprise of the car
can imply the human relation approach as they deals with the various kinds of people for their dealing and providing
their company services to their customers. The human theory will help them in focusing on the human behaviour and
on the human factors also (Leadership, organisation and behaviour, 2015.). Moreover the human theory approach will
make the enterprise able to focus on the demands and needs of the people and the wants of workers and their feelings.

There are different managerial approaches which are adopted by the organisations. The management
approaches which are used by the city college and the enterprise are:
Decision theory approach- The decision theory focuses on the decision making and their process of framing the
decision. Decisions are required at each level of management. It is an essential component for all the business
activities. The decision making helps the manager to identify the roles and responsibilities to be carry out which helps
in improving the efficiency of the business and leads to a healthy communication in the organisation.
System approach- System approach deals within the system considerations. It evaluates the sub integrated parts of
the organisation (Farndale, Hope-Hailey and Kelliher, 2011). It consists with the situation requirement and not
applicable in each and every situation it occurrence is depends on the circumstances.
Sociotechnical system approach- It consists of the technical systems had a great impact on the social system and

style of leading will create an image of the leader in their employees mind and create a positive or the negative
impact for the leader against his performance and behaviour. The different leadership styles in the city college and in
the enterprise impacts on the behaviour of their employees ( Watson and Korczynski, 2011 ). As in the enterprise the
autocratic styles are applicable the employees feel uneasy in working and feel themselves not the part of the
enterprise as they don’t have any rights and authorities in the organisation the power is in the top level in the
enterprise and hence to leads to an negative impact on the employees mind of the enterprise towards their company.
On the other hand the city college works within the laisez fare style where the employees have the right to take
decisions and have authorities. This helps them feeling themselves as an important of the organisation and creates a
positive impact of the college in their minds and they enjoy working with the college.

The employees require some motivational factors for bringing efficiency n their work performance. The
managers provide certain motivational schemes to employees for encouraging them for their work. There are certain
motivational theories which can be applied by the city college and the enterprise for motivating their employees are:
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs- The Maslow’s hierarchy of theory mainly focuses on motivating through fulfilment of
the basic requirement needs. They firstly focuses on the basic needs such as food, shelter, and the clothes later on to
the luxury needs or for to the social and status needs. This type of theory can be applied by both the organisations for
motivating theory employees.
Equity theory - The equity theory consists of providing the similarity to the employees within the organisation. It
focuses on judging the people fairly without having any personal bias with any particular employee (Ashby, 2013) .
The entire employee must be granted with the equal remuneration and with similar services providing.
Expectancy Theory of motivation-It includes the motivation level stated covering the mental process regarding the
choosing of the people. It covers the self interest and providing the incentives what the people are expecting and what
they are getting. The rewards must be granted according to performance fairly.

better performance. The theory will lead to provides ensured about the employees need being fulfilled and helps n
increasing productivity for both the sectors respectively and helps in motivating their employees at its best level for

effectively in the organisation the good team work is require. A team is a collection of people work together to
achieve a common task and goals with the mutual efforts. Group consist of the group members and their behaviour
for the work performance. The mangers must allocate the groups in a such a way that helps in achieving effectuality
and the group must be able to achieve their goals efficiently. The allocation of group’s must be done according to the
specification. Each group must consider some specific people from each department for the processing which helps in
performing several tasks of different states collectively. The members in the group have the common goal in the
minds for achieving that and are independent from each other. There are mainly two major groups functions that
are required to be performed are of task that is gathering the information and making the decision according to that
information and maintenance which consist the standard parameters setting and justifying them. The group is an
collective people engaged for achieving the common propose.
4.2Discuss factors that may promote or inhibit the development of effective teamwork in organisations
The effective team work can be build up with the mutual efforts and strong team bounding. When the team
members will work collectively with understanding each other and helping the team members effectively brings
harmony in the team. When all the members in the team works upon the achieving of the team goals rather than

members from anywhere helps in time saving and does not requires the team members to be present collectively at
the same place (Rahim, Jalaludin and Tajuddin, 2011). The invention of the various softwares for the team working
brings efficiency and reduces human efforts and helps in taking rapid decisions for the team. The new methods and
technologies bring efficiency in the working procedures for the team working.

managing the business activities effectively and for reaching to a success level and for working in the dynamic

significant role. The role of the management is to create a suitable work culture and the structure for the employees
