Introduction
In this modern generation, it is become mandatory for the companies to concentrate on their
employees and also so adopt strategic strategies & approaches which can be useful to improve
the behavior of the employees. Basically organizational behavior is a specific technique in order
to improve the motivational level & enhance the performance level of the employees. For this
assessment, Sports Direct company is considered which most famous British organization
established in 1982 & its headquarter situated in Shirebrook , England. The report will analyze
the relationship between the organizational structure & organizational performance and provide
reflective statement on the topic.

Analyse the relationship between organisational structure and organisational
performance
Organizational structure is containing as the statistical techniques which can maintain
proper discipline among employees that is beneficial for the development of the performance of
the employees. There are various kinds of organizational structure are determined & I have
observed that all the structure can contain specific considerations. Some specific types of
organizational structure are adopted by most of the companies such as functional structure, flat
structure, hierarchical structure, dimensional structure & matrix structure. All these structures are
containing specific procedure which is considered by the HR manager of the firm so that
company can adopt most prominent organizational structure for their company. In context of
Sports Direct Company, I have analysed that hierarchical organizational structure is most
appropriate which can help to enhance the productivity of employees & improve the
performance of the company.

Relationship between Organizational structure & Organizational
performance
Organizational structure and performance both are interrelated and determine the success of
the firm. With the help of adequate organization structure, performance level of the company can
evolve effectively so that company can improve their goodwill internationally. Sports Direct
company HR manager adopt hierarchical structure so that manager can take care about each and
every working activities of their workforce (Hunter, 2018). As per the study about organizational
structure of Sports Direct, I have generalized that top management department & high authorities
managers are responsible to take appropriate decisions for the welfare of the workforce. As per
my observation, I can say that all the employees are enhancing their competencies & update
themselves from the latest trends. There are some specific points are involved which can
demonstrate the specific relationship between the organizational structure & performance.
Purpose - Organization structure provide a specific purpose to the company so that it is
easy for the HR manager to target the employees as per their capabilities. As per the
study about the organizational structure of Sports Direct, I can effectively understand that
how organizational structure is appropriate for the company because it can help to
provide purpose so that manager can prepare strategic planning and priorities the work.
For example, I have analysed that there are three types of rating systems are considered
by the company which helpful maintain employee’s performance that is below
expectation, meet expectation & exceed expectation. HR manager of the company use all
these rating system in appraisal time so that manager can provide appraisal as per the
performance level of the workforce.
Entrepreneurial - Organizational structure is helpful to improve the working style of the
employees so that they can in hence their development opportunities and improve their
creativity level so that company can maintained their entrepreneurial aspects (Katou,
2017). In case of Sports Direct , I have determined that hierarchical structure is
considered by the company which provide flexible working condition for the employees
so that all the employees and discuss their issues with their leaders and supervisors &
take appropriate suggestions. Employees can prepare strategic achieving objectives so

that they can provide their better contribution to the development of organizational
performance.
Bureaucratic - With the help of effective structure, company can maintained their
routines, strategic planning, policies, procedures & standards in an appropriate manner.
Structure can improve the career path of the workforce and also provide flexibility e in
the working condition so that all the employees can work without any pressure and
provide best efforts to improve organizational performance. I have considered that
maintain proper structure is beneficial to address specific problems of the employees
which improve the working condition of the firm.
Professional - Professionalism structure is beneficial to contain the highly trained
individuals which can be an effective service provider and maintain organizational
performance independently (Kitchin, 2017). As per my concern about structure,
employees maintain great deal of the autonomy on the basis of their performance because
power and authority can be share and it can help to improve the organizational
performance of the company.
Innovative - Organizational structure is helpful to improve the innovativeness of the
employees and maintain project based organizational structure (Tõnnisson, 2017). In
context of my perception about the Sport Direct company, performance management is
the main concern of the company and company also maintaining proper communication
among their workforce so that all the employees can manage their performance level and
get specific career development opportunities so that they can consider the value of the
firm and provide their proper contribution in the development of the company
performance.
On the basis of above discussion about the relationship between the organizational structure
& organizational performance of the Sports Direct company, I can evaluated that structure &
performance both are interrelated if company is following appropriate organizational structure
as per their business operation then it can provide positive impact on the performance of the

firm. As per the discussion about the organizational structure and its relationship with
performance I can effectively identified that Sports Direct company more concerned about their
structure and also use specific strategies & approaches so that company can appropriately
enhance the performance level of their firm. To improve the company performance, employee’s
behaviors are also matte & I have determined that employee’s behavior is good then they are
more capable to establish positive relationship with the customers so that company can
effectively develop their performance level. Sports Direct Company utilized OCEAN model so
that company can improve the personality of their employees with personality traits (Wood and
et. al., 2019).
Conclusion
On the basis of this assessment, it can be concluded that organizational structure is
providing crucial participation in the development of organizational performance &
effectiveness. This reflective project determine the specific relationship between structure and
performance of the organization and it is analysed that a proper effective organizational structure
can provide positive impact on the performance level of the firm so that company can effectively
accomplish their business objective and also achieve more positive outcomes.
