Introduction
David Jones is among the premium retailer within the Australian Industry, it has set
up it stores across the country and deals in national as well as international brands, the
organisation effectively provides customers with quality services in beauty products,
technology, fashion and homeware products. The mission of the organisation is to provide
customers with the best and most exclusive goods. The organisation effectively operates its
stores and deals in merchandise along with providing effective customer support to its
customers. David Jones has appointed internationally renowned celebrities to promote the
brand and to establish a competitive position within the industry (David Jones, 2019).
Performance for David Jones
Performance of an organisation is linked to the achievement of the organisational
goals and the implementation of the strategies. c within the industry and justifies the ability of
the organisation to achieve the goals and strategies. The performance of the organisation
within the industry can be defined based on the customer base and loyalty, financial
performance and the effectiveness of the management within the organisation (Rummler &
Brache, 2012). David Jones is effectively running its business since 1838 and is focused
towards its mission to sell the most exclusive goods within the industry.
The performance of the David Jones can be effectively justified with the years that the
organisation has completed within the industry with its original brand name, also the
organisation is able to attract the customers through its online platform and during March
2020 its online channel has almost been doubled (Blake, 2020). The organisation has
expanded its stores across the nations and ensure that such expansion would result in
improving the organisation performance. However, such factors can be considered as a
source of identifying the performance within the industry.
On the other hand, the performance in terms of the financial position within the
industry, David Jones is facing tough times, as, despite its efforts in-store expansion and
online establishment, the organisation is lacking innovation within the organisation and is
dealing with the declining sales over the period. The organisation is required to focus on the
customer base and their requirements apart from just providing them with exclusive and
quality products and work in order to provide them with such services so that the
performance in terms of financial performance can be improved (Xu, Gao, & Hammond,
2017).

Conclusion
The organisational performance requires that the management of the organisation is
able to focus on developing strategies through which the organisation is able to achieve
profitability and improve its customer base within the industry. Therefore, David Jones is
effective in terms of the product and service that is being provided to its customers, but it is
required that the organisation also focus on developing strategies through which it will be
able to gain financial advantage within the industry. As it is required that the organisation
focus on the overall performance so that it can retain its customers and can compete within
the industry (Pulaj & Kume, 2014).
