Organisational leadership is an integral approach that works for the effectiveness of the
individuals, team and organisation as whole. It is the behaviour and norms of the work which
encourage employees of organisation in ant job role top lead different levels of organisation.
The present report highlighted importance of leadership in success and growth of the
organisation. The report is based on the British airways which is one of the leading airlines
and has routers to more 550 destinations around the world which makes it second in UK.
British airways has it’s headquarter in Waterside, Harmondsworth. The airlines have
operations like passenger services, carriages of freight and mails and ancillary services in
domestic and international. The report will highlighted the concept and different of
management and leadership in an organisational context. Further, the report will helps in
understanding the leadership theory of transformational leadership approach. The report will
depict the management development programmes in British Airways.

coordinating and directing different activities of organisation as per the goals of the
organisation (Popli and Rizvi, 2015). Thus, management can be defined as “the process of
coordinating all the resources of the organisation with the basic function of planning,
coordinating and controlling to achieve the aim of organisation”. Management can also be
defined as “The art of getting the work done by others through organising and commanding
the efforts of the employees in order to control the work force and other resources
efficiently”. It can be said that quality of a manager and effective management styles helps in
identifying the organisational culture, employee’s productivity for the success of the
organisation.
A manager can be said as the person who has the authority to supervise the activity of a
department or of whole organisation. In an organisational context, manager is responsible for
performing all the functions of management. Manager is very essential in organisation to

market share of the organisation. In this regards, it can be said that, Robert can be a good
CEO and make effective strategies to increase the profit, but he is not a leaders as he cannot
take the team and employees together to attain the aim of organisation.
It becomes crucial for the top executives to become efficient leaders and take decisions
considering each aspect of the issues for achieving the long-term vision of organisation.
