INTRODUCTION
Managing people in the organisation is very tough task for the manager in the
organisation. It is the whole process which is important to be done on time. Management
includes some vital functions such as planning, organising, staffing and controlling. These
functions help organisation to accomplish the goal successfully. This present report is based on
teamwork, motivation and leadership of M&S company. These factors play a very vital role in
the company. This report will discuss about the different approaches of leadership, team work
and management. Along with that, company will cover the overall management functions with
the help of different motivational theories. Management leadership initiate different talented
employees towards the organisational goals. This development process increases organisation
values.
Approaches of Leadership, Management and Team work
Leadership approaches and styles are very important to fulfil the overall organisational
goals. Manager of M&S responsible to adopt leadership approaches to accomplish the overall
target (Agnoletti, 2014). This leadership styles must be taken into consider in terms of training,
staff meeting and group discussion. Apart from that, manager must adopt these approaches and
styles to obtain organisation’s sales revenue. There are many approaches and styles through
which company can easily get their employees performance in more effective way. There are
two leadership approaches mentioned below which describes the leadership styles.
Charismatic:
Leaders must have quality of attractiveness through which they attract positive
environment in the organisation. It makes new growth and opportunity for the future
development. Furthermore, Mark & Spencer’s manager should use this kind of leadership style
to create healthy environment. Charismatic approach helps company to enhance their employee’s
performance because attractive leader always takes employees issues seriously and try to solve
them so that employees always share their issues with the leader. This type of leader is very
skilled communicator as they are perfect in verbal or non-verbal communication. They analyse
the employees’ emotions deeply and that they give them satisfactory benefits and motivation to
make them happy (Anderson, and et.al., 2015). It is the process which interact between qualities
of the charismatic leader. These leaders create positive environment and attract opportunities and
growth. Furthermore, magnetic leader always finds some new ways to accomplish the overall

task in an effective manner. It helps M&S company to fulfil the consumer needs and wants in
more effective manner.
Dynamical:
This leadership style makes person dynamic in nature means changeable according to the
situation and uncertain events. Leader must adopt new changes and take them as new
opportunities and growth (Banks, Ledbetter and Greenhalgh, 2016). This dynamic leadership
style is very important trait of leadership which gives high growth and stability to the company.
It gives new strength which gives motivation to the employees to adopt new current changes
from the organisation. It gives new opportunities and development growth to adopt new changes
M&S Company should be adopted current changes through which company analyse the current
needs and wants of the customers. M&S leader needs to have this quality to take company
growth up. Furthermore, leader of M&S must be dynamic in nature to adopt new changes and
find the best way to accomplish the overall target of the organisation. It is the best way to adopt
new challenges to maintain the company position in the market. M&S is the retail company for
which is important to analyse the constant changes in the external market for that employees
wants some new skills and thoughts to adopt those new changes, leader give confidence and
motivation skills to adopt those changes (Cappelli and Keller, 2014). This leadership approach
helps organisation employees to keep in touch with the current environment and trends. It makes
company environment more powerful and talented. Leader is always being the great person who
plays a very important role in the organisation.
Management Approaches
Management is the group of number of employees and teammates which works for the
organisation developments by providing goods and services. It makes environment more positive
and motivated. Management of the M&S must be enthusiastic and talented to carry on the
business activities. M&S needs to adopt effective management approaches to maintain the
management skills more effectively (Carter and et.al, 2015). M&S is the big multinational retail
store which requires create management skills to manage the all plans and strategies. Some of
them given below.
Classical Approach
Classical approach is the first style of management. In this kind of style, it includes some
important function of management, planning, organising and controlling. In this kind of

management style company needs to follow all the vital functions of management to full fill the
overall target of the company. Apart from that, company needs to manage all employees in
positive manner to achieve the profit revenue for the company growth. Manager has responsible
to tackle all the functions of organisation (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). It also main aim is to make
management effective and increasing the efficiency level of employees which is based on
management styles(Managemenet Approches.2017). Furthermore, it was very important to
obtain hierarchical structure, it is necessary to flow the information from top to bottom level.
Generally, organisation has three basic levels top, middle and lower level of employees. Top
level employees include owners, directors and shareholders; in middle level management,
managers and supervisors are included. On the other side, in lower level management, it
includes workers and employees. This management approach helps company to manage the
controlling power according to the division. Furthermore, last aspect of classical approach is
division of labour means of delegation of power between employees and labours. It helps
company to delegate the work on the basis of skills and talent of the employees. It makes new
chances and opportunities of growth for management of the company.
Behavioural Approach
Human behaviour is the next approach of the organisation which is very important to be
considered. In this management styles author want to express the importance of employees in the
organisation. It is the key to success of the company. Employees are the assets who gives sales
revenue to the organisation (Kinicki and et.al, 2014). Behavioural approach based on nature of
employees its needs and wants, nature, way of working. To make effective working environment
M&S needs to adopt behavioural approach to accomplish the employees' satisfaction level, so
that they get satisfied with the working environment of the M&S. It gives new opportunities and
talented employees in future times. It is a continuous process, manager is responsible analyse the
behaviour of employees and accordingly give them to best work.
Team Work Approaches
Team work is the most important function in the organisation. M&S has number of
employees which provides their work efficiency to accomplish the overall target of the company.
It makes management effective and work together (McCulloch and et.al, 2017). Apart from that,
Manager needs to fulfil the employees' satisfaction needs which helps to manage the teamwork
in an effective manner. It is very important for the organisation to manage the teamwork.

Manager is responsible to make effective team for enhancing more productivity level of
employees(Behavioural approaches.2016). It gives new power and opportunity for business
development. Without any team building company cannot control the management properly
(Northouse, 2015). This helps to remove the miss understanding among employees, so that they
will easily measure the actual performance out of desired performance. It gives new
opportunities and growth for making new business plans. To make proper coordination between
team members M&S needs to adopt some approaches mentioned below:
Avoidance: Company needs to avoid unwanted activities and issues held in the organisational.
Otherwise, it makes misunderstanding and lack of coordination skills. Apart from that it makes
company takes more effective business plans and provide better goods and services to the
customers. Apart from that, managers also make sure about the team members are happy with
each other, so that they can easily resolve their issues in effective ways. It gives new
opportunities and power to make organisation more powerful and attractive (O’Malley and et.al,
2015). Along with that it gives new theories and motivation skills. It helps company to create
new decision-making process with talented employees.
Collaboration:
This is the next teamwork approach to accomplish the overall target. This collaboration
style of teamwork is to get new opportunities and healthy working environment in the
organisation. It is the most impressive problem-solving style between two parties. Coordination
among the employees is very important to achieve the desired results of the company. Along
with that, M&S also adopt some group activities which create collaboration power between the
employees to accomplish the overall objective of the firm. Teamwork is always based on
coordination skills, manager always consider employees empowerment at the first priority to
accomplish the overall target of the firm (Reason, 2016).

On the basis of different approaches of leadership, teamwork and management, it makes
new opportunities and growth for the organisation development. Today's workplace is full of
challenges, new constraints and competition. It makes company environment more critical and
difficult. But to minimise the negative constraint, company needs to adopt new styles and
approaches to overcome from these effects. Through this, the company can easily run the
business in impressive ways. Approaches are very useful to minimise the uncertain events as

competitors like Tesco, Asda, Wall mart which also come under retail market. To overcome
from these effects company needs to adopt new creative approaches styles to manage their work
in more impressive ways. These approaches are related to the current workplace where every
employee wants to get high remuneration and motivation skills. Sometimes this competition
creates conflicts and jealousy to get over from these situations. Leader is responsible to adopt
coordination approach to minimize the negativity among the employees. These approaches also
help to make new decision-making skills through which company get their new product
expansion plans (Bolman and Deal, 2017). Today's time leaders play very important role to
maintain the proper communication between the employees. It makes new way of working to
accomplish the overall target in more effective way. Classical approach of management helps
company to delegate the work between the employees on the basis of roles and responsibilities.
Nowadays, in today's workplace every employee wants new opportunities and growth from the
organisation, so ion that case company needs to give their benefits and tries to full fill their needs
and wants. These approaches and styles are very effective and plays a very important role in
workplace. It is very effective and most role-playing characteristics to accomplish the overall
company objectives. Besides this, collaboration approach also makes very good and impressive
and now it becomes the most modern tool of management. It gives innovation style and
motivation power to the organisation growth. Apart from that, these approaches will give
innovative environment in the work place through which every employee gives new ways of
working to get maximum return (Cappelli and Keller, 2014).
Overall these all approaches help M&S company to adopt new opportunities and growth.
With the help of leadership, management and teamwork approaches, M&S can easily analyse the
external or internal environment and also determine the current needs and wants. It also helps to
make new strategic plans to make workplace more effective and challenging. Overall these
approaches are very useful in terms of handling the business activities and get better working
environment in the company. It also obtains new opportunity for growth and that to earn profit
revenue (Reason, 2016).
