1STRATEGIC PLANNING OF ORGANIZATION
Strategic planning of any organization is set of priorities to ensure the activities of the
organization and the execution of the same. The management decides the strategic planning,
which includes numerous activities from strengthening organizational operations to direct the
organization for accommodating the it with the changing environment.
The benefit of the strategic planning has been a subject of debate and arguments for
years. However, this argumentative topic suggests that the strategic planning of any
organization is effective towards its success and profit in the competitive market. The
management of the organization is responsible for effective strategic planning to increase the
productivity of the organization. The strategic planning does not only include the activity of
the organization, but also ensures the execution of the planned activities (Cassidy 2016).
Hence, the statement implying strategic planning as the waste of time cannot be considered
true.
The purpose of strategic planning is to advance the business of the organization as
well as to align the business objectives and the realization of the same by the employees and
the stakeholders of the organization (Bryson 2012). According to several management
theories the management of the organization is responsible for understanding and anticipating
the basic system and the diverse situations of the organizations. Accordingly, the
management plans the strategies in order to coordinate the resources and the action of the
business objectives throughout the company.
The strategic planning is worth the commitment of time since it is the fundamental
link among the stakeholders and the organizational operations. Employees are considered to
be the internal key stakeholders of the organization and a good strategic planning involves the
stakeholders in accomplishing the business objectives. Apart from the engagement of the
stakeholders in the business process, it enhances the work culture inside the organization and

provides a proposed framework for implementing the specific initiatives taken by the
organization. Moreover, the good strategic planning enables the organization in measuring
the financial and other metrics for the employees as well as the overall growth of the
organization (Smith, 2013).
Despite of having a vast amount of advantages of the strategic planning, several
problems can be found regarding the same in the management. Managerial problems like
execution of the strategic planning needs to be taken care with attention, or else the
effectiveness of the strategic planning would be of no use. The management of the
organization also needs to be more communicative regarding the strategic planning with the
employees and the external stakeholders of the organizations (Grunig 2013). Lack of
communication will lead the management to face the failure in executing the strategic
planning within the organization.
The chief components like ownership and the employee buy in in the strategic
planning needs to be focused. The ignorance of the employee buy-in at every level for
executing the strategic planning can cause the failure of the process. Thus, the management
needs to monitor and control the process at every level of the execution (Peppard and Ward
2016).
Thus, it can be concluded that strategic planning is important and necessary for an
organization to identify the opportunities and the stakeholders of the organization. Despite
having few disadvantages in the strategic planning, benefits are prevalent and the
disadvantages can be resolved with proper understanding of the same.
