Introduction
YourHome is a small family-owned bed and breakfast (B&B) business that has been running in a
small touristic town in the UK for more than a decade offering budgeted accommodation and
continental breakfast to travelers. So far, there has been no other business of the like in the small
town.
However, the introduction of the Chained-Brand Hotel in the town has caused your home to have a
rethink about its survival because its business has dropped since then.
YourHome advertises its business by the word of the mouth and through the Agency website by
which it is charged a reasonable amount of money. Unfortunately, YourHome does not own any

Digital Platform except for the very simple website used for just information for rooms, Location,
and contact details. Moreover, YourHome has very few unskilled employees, mostly family
members.
In this report, the following strategy will be implemented:

According to Fuertes et al (2020), any organizational strategy must define where the company wants
to be in the future and evaluate objectively where it is now to decide how to get there; taking into
account the options, alternatives, and available resources, and the needed changes.

According to Laden Husamaldin(2022), Organisational Analysis involves analyzing the Organisation
Domain in the form of an Onion as shown below:
Informal Layer:
• The whole organization is first of all regarded as an informal information system in which the
oral culture plays an important role.
• The organizational culture, customs, and values are reflected in the beliefs, habits, and patterns of
behavior of each member.
• A healthy organization will possess a cohesive culture and personal beliefs, whereas in an
unhealthy organization there may be considerable conflicts between the organizational and personal
levels.
• This layer is a sub-culture where meanings are agreed upon, intentions are understood, and beliefs
are formed.
• Commitments and responsibilities are made, altered, and discharged in this context through
negotiation, discussions, and, sometimes, physical actions.
Formal Layer:
• Rules and bureaucratic procedures are created to explicate and replace meanings and
intentions.
• The rules and bureaucracy specify how the work should be carried out and how the tasks should
be performed.
• They are useful when the tasks are mechanistic and repetitive. The rules and procedures can help
to achieve high efficiency
Technical Layer
• Mostly a computer system or an IT system, is placed inside the formal systems layer
• The technical system can be programmed according to rules.
• It can automate some of the functions and procedures needed.
• Many routine and repetitive tasks can be delegated to the technical system to achieve efficiency.

The organisation as an Information System
• The study of Organisational semiotics considers an organization as an information system in which
information is created, processed, and used.
• The organization as an integral system includes not only technical functions but also human
functions for information processing and utilization
• Information systems analysis and design must start with understanding and modeling the
organization
This information System is reflected in the Organisational Onion stated above.
According to CFI(Corporate Institute of Finance),(2022), Organizational analysis is the process of
appraising the growth, personnel, operations, and work environment of an entity. This will enable
management to identify areas of weakness and then find approaches for eliminating the problems.
Characteristics of Organizational Analysis
CFI, also states that Internal weaknesses and strengths, together with external threats and
opportunities, determine the success of an entity as stipulated below:
1. Strengths
The competitive edge that an organization enjoys over its competitors is an advantage that defines
its success. Assessing the strengths of an organization involves evaluating management, workforce,
resources, as well as current marketing goals. In general, an internal analysis looks at an entity’s core
competencies and resources.
Defining the capability of an organization helps the management team to make sound decisions as
they formulate long-term objectives. Other important aspects of an internal analysis include looking
at financial objectives, strategic planning, and operational structure.
2. Weaknesses
Weaknesses are an aspect of an organization that can affect its performance. Recognizing
weaknesses is important, as it enables the organization to locate problems and implement beneficial
changes. In addition, the organization can develop appropriate choices in its strategic planning
process, especially when results are not satisfactory.
Potential weaknesses include low morale, poor leadership, poor financials, obsolete technology, and
inefficient functions. An example of a turnaround would be an organization, which previously
experienced poor cost control, working hard to manage costs.

3. Opportunities
Generally, an external analysis weighs the threats and opportunities that are present outside of an
organization. An external assessment includes sizing up the competition, analyzing market trends,
and evaluating the impact of technology on the performance of an organization. When looking at
external opportunities, an organization needs to identify current trends in the market, as well as
weaknesses and gaps in the market that it can come in and fill.
An entity also needs to consider technological changes as an opportunity. Innovation helps to create
business opportunities. Therefore, organizations that set themselves apart in terms of their efficient
use of available technology are capable of becoming leaders in their respective industries.
4. Threats
Not all threats are detrimental to the success of a business. For instance, labor can be a threat or an
opportunity, depending on the prevailing economic conditions. Legislation and regulations set by the
government also exert an effect on how well an organization performs in its industry.
To succeed in a competitive environment, an organization needs to learn to cope and embrace
change as it happens.

management of organizational and financial data with efficient information systems. Most
companies have seen a drift in the process of workflow due to accuracy and reliability. There is no
alternative for the right information at the required time in the world of business where every
industry revolves around the "Internet of Things".
This raised the need to innovate and develop the systems that can be implemented to make the
information accurate, and that can be quickly accessed on demand. An effective information system
can entitle an organization to better planning, decision-making, and hence desired results.
