What the Course has Taught Me
The course on organizational behavior has taught me how individual performance
and group performance are monitored in an organization. It has specifically taught me
about the various ways by which human behavior finds manifestation in an organization
and the impact that this can have on job structure and on organizational behavior
(Borkowski, 2016). I have come to learn as a part of this course that organizational
behavior is dependent greatly on the type of work culture that is established by the higher
management of the organization. This work culture has a significant role to play in
influencing the behavior of employees, their attitude to work and their attitude to working
in a way that would help them to attain the goals and objectives of the organization
(Gelfand et al., 2017). The course on organizational behavior has also taught me about the
important role that well-articulated and well-thought ought communication has to play in
the day to day running of business affairs. I have understood from the course that
communication must be carried out in a transparent and honest manner and that decorum
should be maintained when engaging with supervisors or with the higher management of
the organization (Kinicki & Fugate, 2017). Indeed I have to come to understand that
decorum is a very important thing and it needs to be maintained at every level in an
organizational set up. The course on organizational behavior has also made me aware of
the challenges that can arise when conflicts arise in the place of work and if the nature of
the conflict tends to be discriminatory in nature. In fact attending this course is something
that has provided me with a sufficient amount of knowledge of the tricks of the trade that
ought to be brought into play should conflict arise, so that it can be resolved in a smooth
and easy way (Peltokorpi et al., 2017).

Impact of the Course on Organizational Behavior on My Career
The course on Organizational Behavior has influenced my approach to professional
life as a whole. It has put me abreast with the type of difficulties that can ensue at the
workplace, the kind of conflicts that can arise at the place of work and the various ways
and means by which such conflicts ought to be resolved (Tasselli et al., 2018). I am going to
be far more objective in my approach to choosing a career and implementing a career now
because of the knowledge that I have been exposed to as a consequence of attending this
course. At the very least, attending this course has made me more confident and this is
something that is definitely going to come across when I go for a job interview or when I
start doing a job. I have a fair idea now of what it is that is expected from employees by the
managers of a business organization. I am well-versed with all the do’s and the don’ts and I
know exactly the type of behavior that I would be expected to demonstrate should I take up
a professional position in a business organization of repute (Van Kippenberg & Hogg,
2018). I am also now fully aware of how important it is to be communicative with the
people who I am working with so that I am able to convey the right thoughts and ideas to
my supervisors. The course on organizational behavior has taught me how correct and
appropriate communication is the key to a successful professional life and I will be
implementing the same on the career front. I now have an understanding as well of the
factors that are seen to guide the performance of employees, including the role that
motivation has to play in this respect (Gagne, 2018). I will consequently pursue careers in
organizations that are known for their motivational leadership, and when working in a

business organization I will also try and keep myself motivated as much as possible, so as to
be able to do a good job on the work front.
