ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR
Introduction:
Organizational behavior is regarded as the set of study, which intends to assess the
attitude and behavior of both group and individual people in an organizational, which plays a
critical role in determining their performance level. This paper focuses on the discussion forum
which will shade light on the e-learning activities of different weeks.
Week 5 Activity Perception and Individual Decision Making:
In order to discuss the activity related to activity perception and individual decision
making, Titanic has been chosen as the movie. Titanic is one of the famous
American epic romances and disaster film, which has been released in the year 1997. The film
has been written, directed and co-produced by James Cameron. The film is based on the love
story between different social classes (Harris 2018). Titanic is my all-time favorite film as it
depicts the issues related to socio-economic discrimination of that. As I belong from lower
middle class family, this movie attracts me most as there the conflict between the toil and
hardship of the poor people and the lifestyle of the elite class people has been depicted very
beautifully. In addition, the transparency in Rose’s character is one of the major reasons, for
which Titanic attracts me most. On the other hand, my friend belong from the upper class
family, who don’t like the movie as he thinks that in the movie, the upper class society has been
depicted in a very unfavorable manner.

Week 6 – Motivation:
High degree of motivation among the staffs plays a critical role in improving their degree
of productivity which is the key of improving the overall organizational performance. As the
security screening staffs in the airports are engaged in different activities. Thus, it is the prime
responsibility of the higher authorities of the airports to keep them motivated. Incentivizing is
one of the major ways of motivating the security screening staffs. The role of feedback system is
needed to be considered in this context. This is the best way of rewarding the staffs for the sake
of engaging them, which can help in creating a positive image among them. Giving monetary
reward to the security screening staffs by acknowledging their contribution is another vital ways
of motivating the employees (Bush et al. 2019). This can create a positive vive among the staffs
which is the key of improving their productivity. Developing a culture of trust in the workplace
by engaging the staffs in decision making process is another vital method, which the airport
authority can apply for the sake of motivating the security screening staffs.
Week 7- Group Behavior and Team at Work:
It is the primary role of the leaders to follow comprehensive steps in terms of developing
an effective team. According to Tuckman’s stages of team development, there are four different
stages which the leaders should follow in terms of developing a team. Forming is the initial stage
of team development in which the introduction of individual team members occurs. In this stage,
it is the prime responsibility of the leaders to discuss about the fundamental purpose of the
registration process and the role of individual team members. Storming is the second stage of
team development in which conflict among the team members can occur due to their personality

clash. At the same time, the team members may disagree regarding the way, through which their
works are distributed (Northouse 2018).
However, it is the role of the leaders to maintain emotional stability while dealing with
conflict. Norming is the third stage of team development in which the people starts to raise the
value of the strength of their team members and contribute their efforts towards making a
cohesive unit. In this stage, it is the prime responsibility of the leaders to assign the roles and
responsibilities to the people based on their skills and competencies. Performing is the fourth
stage of the team development in which the individual team members become motivated and
confident in terms of performing their assigned task with utmost efficiency. In this stage, the
team members strive to reach the goal. Adjourning is the final stage of team development, in
which the team leader disbands the group after completing any given project.
Week 8- Leadership:
1. Difference between trait and behavior theories of leadership:
Appropriate leadership is one of the major ways of leading the staffs towards proper
direction which is the key of accomplishing the organizational goals and objectives. The trait
theories of leadership focus on the fact that the personality traits of the leaders play a major role
in making the people a successful leader. On the other hand, the behavioral theory of leadership
put stress on the fact that specific behavior segregates the leaders from that of the non-leaders.
According to the behavior theories of leadership, there is no born leader; rather the attitude and
behavior of the people make the people a good leader (de Oliveira et al. 2019). On the other
hand, trait theories define the effectiveness of the leaders on the basis of their characteristics of
the staffs.

Appropriate selection and development of effective leaders play a major role in providing
the organization with proper direction. Thus, it is the prime responsibility of the higher authority
of an origination to select the leader very carefully as they are incredibly important determinant
of the organizational success. Communication is one of the most significant skills, which the
leaders should have for the sake of building cohesive bond within the team. Thus, it is the prime
responsibility of the higher authority of an organization to assess the leadership skill in a person
before hiring him as the team leader (Kutz 2018). At the same time, the relationship-building
ability among the person must also be assessed before assigning him as the team leader.
Week 9- Power & Politics:
Power is regarded as the possession of authority influence and certain, which allows the
leaders in an organization to lead effectively and thereby give the staffs with a proper direction to
move. There are multiple sources of power, which the leaders should explore in order to lead
effectively. Legitimate Power is considered as the positional power, which is bestowed among
the leaders by their position. Through this power, the leaders can delegate tasks to their
subordinates. Expert Power is another major source of power which the leaders can access from
their job structure and knowledge. Such source of power is very important factor in terms of
leading a team in a skillful and competent manner (Ellis 2018). Coercive Power is another major
source of power which is used for the sake of enforcing strict dead line and punishable actions in
order to scare the employees. It has been observed that sometimes, the leaders follow unethical
means in order to use their power as the leader. This can create negative vive among the staffs
and keep them demotivated. Thus, it is imperative for the leaders to disburse their power. It is
