Introduction
The primary objective of the essay is to reflect on the impact of Organizational behavior theories
on the thinking or behavior of both individual and team member. OB theories help in
understanding the way people think, do, and feel in the organizational context.
Organizational behavior theory
OB theories are utilized in an organization for several reasons and understanding the basic terms
associated with organizational behavior (Klotz and Neubaum, 2016). Few theories of OB are as
follows:
Learning theory – It refers to the behavioral change due to direct as well as indirect experience.
Practice, environment, and mental group are some factors that affect learning. It consists of
various theories such as social and cognitive learning, as well as classical and operant
conditioning.
Perception theory – The theory refers to the process of interpreting, gathering, and organizing
impressions. It is a way of interpreting information regarding the environment which consists of
various features as well as the process.
Decision-making theory – Decision-making is a crucial part of a company, and the theory
determines the way people should behave under uncertainty and risk.
Motivation theory – Motivation refers to the force that influences the direction of the behavior of
an individual or organization (Lăzăroiu, 2015). It is important for motivating the employees so
that they create innovation at work. It consists of theories like Maslow's hierarchy of needs and
Herzberg's two-factor theory.
Leadership theory – It refers to the process of guiding the behavior of others to achieve a shared
goal (Wu and Parker, 2017). The theory provides a complete profile of a successful leader.
Impact of OB on individual
As an individual, the learning of OB theories impacts my behavior as well as thinking. Attitude
can both positively and negatively affect the behavior of an individual. The attitude theory of OB
impact the behavior of an individual by reflecting the attitudes. The theory influences me to

bring a positive attitude towards my work, family, friends, and co-workers. With a positive
impact, I always think positive and remain active throughout my work. With the help of the
attitude theory of IB, an individual is trying to reduce dissonance and can decide on their
attitudes that lead them to the successful performance in work. An individual helps the co-
workers, which show the selfless attitude of the person. Motivation theory helps an individual to
be motivated to work effectively and efficiently. Maslow's theory of motivation motivates an
individual by determining the various needs that require to survive in the global environment
(Morgeson, Mitchell and Liu, 2015). I am highly motivated by the learning of OB theories to do
my work successfully. Perception theory helps in interpreting the things that an individual see or
hear. For instance, I visited a hotel and liked the way they provided service to their customers. I
perceived that the hotel is good and recommended it to my friends and relatives. The entire
scenario reflected my perception regarding the hotel. Decision-making theory impacts the
decision-making ability of an individual, which helps the person in making decisions in a
complex situation (Ngai, Tao and Moon, 2015). Learning theory impacts the behavior of an
individual by reflecting the way a person learns to do something. For instance, I learned to write
and read at school and this reflects my learning’s that I have gathered from school. Leadership in
OB generates impact on an individual positively as it shows important traits of the concerned
individual. I can provide direction to others and become a good leader with the impact of OB
theory. I can develop the necessary skills from the learning of OB theory.
Impact of OB on team member
As a team member, learning of OB theories impacts my work process in the team. When I was a
member of the problem-solving team, the theories of OB influenced my thinking, behavior, and
approaches. My work was to suggest ideas and direct the other members towards the
accomplishment of the common goal. The OB theories helped me in gaining focus as well as
making a decision regarding my work. The theories helped in building complex necessary skills
and knowledge required for the task. As a leader of the team, it was my responsibility to
encourage my team members to make innovation in their work for the accomplishment of a goal.
The leadership theory in OB impacted positively on the team member who was the leader of the
team. A leader is able to communicate effectively with the team members so that they will
exchange their ideas freely (Norton et al., 2015). An attitude of the person as a team member
needs to be positive for avoiding conflict with the team members. The positive behavior of the

team member creates an impression on the fellow members. The OB theory helps in paying close
attention to the perception of the employees towards their task (Petrou, Demerouti and Schaufeli,
2018). Decision-making theory is useful for the team member to make a necessary and complex
decision for gaining achievement in the teamwork. Learning theories are useful in motivating the
team member as well as the other co-members in doing the work as they desire. As a team
member, I learn these OB theories and applied in the organization as well as work for the
fulfillment of the objective. The theories are proved to be useful in managing the teamwork as
well as motivating or guiding the co-members towards the work (Wang, Kim and Lee, 2016).
The attitude theory helps me to decide my feelings that lead to successful task performance and
thus, lead to job satisfaction.

Conclusion
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that organizational behavior is the study of
human behavior that shows the way people feel, think, or do. Several theories of OB has
different usefulness on the individual and team member. The theories help an individual in
developing various skills and perceiving about something. The learning of OB helps the team
member in motivating the co-members, showing a positive attitude towards the co-workers and
making a complex decision. Organizational behavior is helpful in performing a successful job
and driving to think positive as well as be active throughout the organizational work.
