1ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
Part 1
Describe the norms that appear to exist in this group.
There were a number of different norm in the group that were followed by the employees
of the business. The very first being the operation of the workers on a job rotation basis. The job
rotation basis ensured that each of the members of the business worked two days constantly on
each day of their job selection. The mentality or the policy to help others during their problems is
another norm followed by the organization. The management of the group restricted the “mind
your own business” attitude among the employees by ensuring a helping hand for each and every
of the employees. Apart from this there were also other important elements like that of frequency
to a particular pub at lunch time, and gathered there in the evenings and at weekends. At the pub
they drank, talked, and played pool. The group made up the factory’s pool team in a local
competition.
Explain why these norms arose.
The following norms arose because of the different kinds of irregularities and
mismanagement in the group. First of all there was problems with the job operating system and
then were problems with the group culture where the workers were often engaged in the
discussion of girls, sex, pool and drinking. The members who were posted as sentries sang loudly
to warn the employees to warn them. This kind of problems prevented in the productivity of the
organization. This led to the rise of the norms in the group.
Discuss how useful these norms are for: a member, the group, the factory.

3ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
Part-2
Motivation at work
I believe without motivation performance is not possible. Moreover, over longer periods
of time it becomes much more difficult to sustain effectiveness performance without proper
motivation. Hence, it becomes imperative for a strong work culture development that an equally
strong and effective motivational environment is created in the workplace. Motivation is the
effective push that is required to work efficiently and positively. It encompasses emotional,
physical, psychological, personal and environmental aspects that helps a person to be positively
inclined to work for an organization. According to me Motivation at work is very much
important in terms of organizational behavior. This is a factor that can be considered in terms of
both the internal and external perspectives. The internal perspectives focus on the thoughts,
feelings, social orientations and value systems of the employees. The external perspectives focus
on how the outwards environment can have significant effect on the performance of the
employees. The importance of motivation at work becomes more in terms of organizational
behavior. This is largely because organizational behavior is essentially the study of how people
act within an organization either individually or in group. Improving job satisfaction is important
for obtaining productive performances from the workforce. Motivation at work is one of the
crucial aspects that need to be enhanced for improving job satisfaction. Hence, within the larger
context of organizational behavior, motivation at work becomes a very important aspect.
More importantly, the factors that affect motivation at work can work well as a catalyst to
improve the other areas of organizational behavior as well. The topic of motivation interests me
more as I think that it is the one aspect that can greatly determine the performance value of any
organization. According to me both the internal and external motivational factors need to be

considered essentially for the benefit of the employee. Better managed organizations in terms of
effective employee motivation often tend to have much better performance levels than the other
organizations. The organizational hierarchy according to me needs to be more effective in terms
of maintaining employee performances. The employees are important and it is more important
that the leadership is structured in order to help the employees feel motivated enough.
Organizational structure is important to incorporate aspects that contribute effectively towards
improving employee motivation. Feedback mechanism is very important for the improvement of
motivational factors. The structure should also incorporate factors such as work-life balance,
employee performance benefits, effective rewards and recognition and effective inter-level
communication. Employee motivation is important for the overall effective functioning of any
organization. This creates an environment where both the employee and the organization get into
a mental contract that can prove to be beneficial for both the employee and the organization. A
framework needs to be created that facilitates effective communication between the supervisors
and their subordinates. Innovativeness, departmental control and job flexibility is an important
factor that needs to be understood. A structural framework in the organization that helps to bring
together the employees and organization is needed for improving employee performance
potential.
Leadership
Leadership according to me is the crux of organizational behavior. Without effective
leadership it become impossible to implement proper standards of organizational behavior.
Leadership is the ability to lead teams, groups and individuals to specific important goals. These
goals are important for realizing the optimal performance potential of organization. Hence,
leadership becomes the aspect that controls the organizational behavior to ultimately strive

towards better productivity. I also think that without proper leadership it becomes extremely
difficult to tackle any of the challenges that may arise in the way of proper organizational
behavior. Groups can only me managed through proper leadership implementation. Hence, it is
important that a proper leadership standard is maintained by any organization. What is more
important is that leadership goes beyond simply leading people. Leadership helps to form
effective strategies for achieving crucial goals in organizational context. At the same time
through my studies I also found that leadership is the only truly effective way of reaching
significant organizational goals. Additionally, it helps to motivate people towards performing
better. I definitely think that leadership is the most important factor in an organizational
environment. It actually helps to align the organizational goals with the individual or group
goals. It helps to communicate the performance requirements more effectively. Without
leadership the employees would not be able to reach out to the management with their problems.
It is hence very important to understand that leadership is a multifaceted area of
organizational behavior. Hence, choosing leadership for evaluating an organization can help to
develop a holistic understanding of the organizational purpose. I have chosen leadership as it is
the most important factor that guides organizational growth and evolution. According to me
organizational decision making is not possible without effective leadership. Here it should be
remembered that presently, forms of leadership are changing. Leadership is becoming more
flexible. I think that the structural implementation can be effectively done through
transformational leadership. Transformative leadership is a kind of leadership that is always
focused on change. Both internal and external change requirements are considered to keep
evolving the operational procedure of the organization. The structural factors that affect
leadership should hence be taken into consideration to form a better framework for the
