2ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
Lessons learned from organizational behavior and people management:
As per the perception of Mayo (2016) organizational behavior is regarded as the ways of
assessing the individual and group behavior and takes necessary action in order to improve the
same for the sake of improving the overall organizational performance. From the course of
organizational behavior and people management, I have learned that appropriate management of
team is one of the major ways of improving organizational performance as it supports in leading
the staffs and aligning them in the single platform. However, Hurmelinna-Laukkanen & Olander
(2019) counter argued by saying that conflict is an impending factor in an organization as
different employees come from different background. There lies the significance of leadership as
it leads the staffs towards proper direction. I have learned about the way of managing a global
team as it is the key of sustaining in the global business environment. I have learned about the
importance of understanding the culture of different people and maintain diversity in the
organization as it is the key factor of managing a global team.
I have learned that it is the role of project manager to hire right people as conflict and
miscommunication are the major issues of managing a global team. French & Rees (2016)
showed that healthy relationship in between the coworkers is one of the major ways, through
which the issue of miscommunication can be mitigated. I have also gained significant knowledge
regarding the fact that it is the role of project managers to hire right people who have effective
communication skill. In addition, from the course of organizational behavior, I have also learned
the fact that a culture of healthy communication is needed to be maintained in the workplace
which can help in fostering positive attitude among the staffs. As the multicultural team plays a
major role in leading the organization to attain competitive advantage in the global market, such

team is needed to be maintained in order to foster long term success from business. This is the
way, through which innovation can also be triggered.
Noe et al., (2017) put stress on the fact that clarity and transparency is needed to be
maintained in a team in order to run a complicate project in a timely and cost effective manner. It
is the prime responsibility of the leaders to offer the team with effective thinking style and
communication styles which are the key of enabling them to work collaboratively. There lies the
significance of effective leadership style which can help in aligning all the staffs irrespective of
their culture and background in a single platform. From the course, I have learned that there are
various leadership styles such as delegative leadership, participative leadership, authoritarian
leadership and paternalistic leadership which are used by the business leaders in different
organizational context. I have also learned that with the assistance of effective leadership style,
the leaders become able to deal with the staffs properly and thus improve their performance
level. I have also learned that the leaders should explore the negative behavior among the staffs
and take strong action in order to mitigate the same in order to maintain stability in the internal
business environment.
