Ways of motivating the staffs to provide the security to the travellers
In the context of aviation industry, motivation and organizational support is one of the
major factors in improving the performance of the staffs at the airport. Motivation can act as the
driving force behind the staffs to provide high quality of services to the customers. Maintaining
transparency in between the employees and the management is the greatest way of keeping
them motivated (Shields et al. 2015). It is the prime responsibility of the management of airports
to provide necessary information to the staffs regarding the current factors of contemporary
travel and tourism industry. The staffs should be informed regarding the latest news on terrorism.
Providing autonomy to the staffs in order to perform their assigned task independently
is another vital way of motivating the employees. After providing necessary terrorism related
information to the employees, the higher authority of airports should empower them to design
their job as per their skills and competencies (Mikkelsen et al. 2017). This is the way of creating
a positive vive among the staffs and thus keeps them motivated. Training and development is
anther vital way of motivating. This is the mode of supporting the staffs to accomplish their
career goal by strengthening relevant skills and competencies. The management of the airports
should provide necessary training to the security staffs and enable them to understand various
tools like electromagnetism, metal detector, and luggage scanners, backscatter X-ray scanner and
guard bee armies which are the vital tools of security checking at the airports (Shields et al.
2015). In-depth knowledge of such tools will help the employees to perform their tasks and thus
satisfy their career goal.
