INTRODUCTION
Organisation behaviour refers to study of way in which individuals communicate with in
the groups. It is subset of management related activities which are concerned with predicting,
understanding and also influencing behaviour in an organisation. This present report is based on
Woolworths Limited company and it deals in retail sector. It has different operations such as
supermarkets, hotels, pubs, liquor retailing etc. In this report will be discuss about different
factors which can influence behaviour of staff members at workplace. There will be discussion
about different strategies which company can execute to change the employee behaviour (Burrell
and Morgan, 2017).
CONTENT
Organisation behaviour refers to study of the human behaviour at workplace, interference
among human behaviour and company. The main aim of organisational behaviour is to revitalize
theory of organisation as well as develop an effective conceptualisation of work. It may be
behaviour in context to physical means and resources for attain desired aims of business. It is
helpful in develop better relationship through attaining organisational, social and human
objectives in an effective manner (Coccia and Cadario, 2014). Staff members are the main
resources of an organisation and they are main reason behind making business successful. They
plays a necessary role in achieving aims and get the competitive benefits at market place. In
Woolworths Limited, there are large number of staff members working and their main aim is to
achieving objectives of company with in given period of time.
Employee behaviour is explained as reaction to staff members to specific situation at the
workplace. It is necessary that employees should be behave in sensible manner in order to gain
appreciation from other people as well as maintain healthy working environment (Employee
Behaviour in the Organization, 2012). Employees behaviour influence ways in which staff
members respond to their work, consumers and leadership. It is a responsibility of manager to
understand about rules and regulations of organisation to employees, so that they can follow
them. If all staff will work together without arising conflict then it will be helpful for
Woolworths Limited to compete with its strong competitors. The employee behaviour can be
influenced through leadership, controls and culture of an organisation. In context to this,
employees behaviour is efficiently managed for making the business operations successful.

can perform well and work towards achieving organisational goals.
Under this, there are some factors which influence behaviour of Woolworths Limited
employees. The first factor is leadership, leaders and managers both plays a necessary role in
influencing employees behaviour at the workplace. It is responsibility of Woolworths Limited
leaders to provide better or right direction to its team members. The main role of leader is to
guide its team members and enhance their motivational level so that they can work effectively
without facing any problem. If in case, leader and managers both are not supportive then team
members will not take any interest in work and also will not be focus towards achieving the
organisational objectives (Coccia, 2014). It will influence their behaviour in negative manner.
So, it is necessary for leader of Woolworths Limited to provide them proper guidance and help
them in daily operations of business. The second factor is Motivation, it is one of the most
necessary factor that influence on behaviour of staff members. It is helpful in enhancing
performance level of staff members and sustain at workplace for long period of time. If in case,
manager is not able to motivate its employees then they will feel dissatisfied from their job and
their performance will be reduced. For motivate employees, manager of Woolworths Limited
include them in decision making at workplace. On the other hand, it also provides training to
them for increase their knowledge and core competencies so that they can perform any activities
or tasks in better manner. The third factor is Effective communication, it is necessary that
managers should communicate with its team members in an effective manner. Manager should
communicate with its employees in positive manner, listen their any problems or suggestions and
give them proper solution. On the other hand, for positively influence behaviour of employees,
manager should include its staff members in decision making problems and also take their
opinions and view points regarding the specific area. Through express views, employees can
over come from their issues (Hashim and Wok, 2014). The fourth factor is Workplace culture, it
is prone to the office politics and cliques which divert the energy of people to away from
mission. It is essential that staff members should be feel comfortable and positive at workplace.
In Woolworths Limited firm, rules and regulations are same for all employees and manager treat
them equally. They ought to encourages follow code of ethics in better manner. In context to
this, it is necessary that manager should develop the positive working environment to employees
so that they can work comfortable manner without arising any conflict at workplace. To make

workplace culture better, transparency is necessary at all level. Manager and employees should
know each other and their capabilities. The fifth factor is Organisational structure, it is formal
system of activities and also reporting the relationships which control, motivates and coordinates
the staff members so that they can be cooperative in attaining goals of company. It consists
procedures, expectations and policies of company. The organisational structure of Woolworths
Limited is postive and it helps in enable staff members to became more effective. On the other
hand, an unhealthy organisational structure can keep away the staff members from reaching
towards objectives (Robbins and et. al., 2013).
Behaviour of staff members at workplace have direct correlation to operations of business.
Generally, employee behaviour is based on working environment or culture. Professional
behaviour develops collaborative work and make status of company higher. Positive
encouragement is helpful in good work as well as better performance that inspires and also
motivates staff so that they can give their best. In order to change employee behaviour,
Woolworths Limited execute different strategies. It will be helpful in enhance performance of
company in better manner. The first strategy is Create collective Goal, sometimes changing
behaviour of staff member is helpful at the time of working in a team as comparison to
individual. It is necessary that manager of Woolworths Limited should develop clear goals for all
employees and also guide them so that they can work in better manner. If goals will be clear to
staff then they will be focus towards and give their higher performance to attain them. On the
other hand, sometimes, employee behaviour can be complex to change. If company want its staff
to behave in proper way, then it is necessary to manage them and also encourage their positive
behaviours. Reinforce Positive Behaviours is second strategy, in this employee gets rewards
from the company. It is process of rewarding as well as recognising desired behaviour to
encourage continuance. When manager wants to notice the undesired change in the performance
of the organisation then company must be sure to acknowledge their employee, rewards,
recognition and promotions (Teh and Sun, 2012). The rewards can be in the terms of monetary as
well as non-monetary. It is an effective way to enhance motivational level of staff members.
Through this, their performance level will be enhanced and they will perform in better manner.
The third strategy is Inspire employees, it is one of the better strategy to make the changes in
behaviour of employees in better manner. Inspiring a staff members is necessary tapping in their
motivations as well as passions at deeper level. It is necessary that manager of Woolworths

Limited should inspire its staff to work in better manner and focus towards achieving the
organisational objectives with in given period of time. Through executing this strategy at
workplace, Woolworths Limited company can make change in behaviour of employees and
make organisational performance better. The fourth strategy is Notice problems, this strategy is
helpful in solve problems of employees in better manner. In context to this, it is a responsibility
of manager in Woolworths Limited to focus on issues which are faced through employees and
try to make their better solutions. Through this, employees will feel better and satisfied from
their job. The fifth strategy is Develop Team Building Exercises, it is used to facilitate wanted
behaviours (Wood and et. al., 2012). Team building activities are mainly used in create the trust
between staff members, foster an effective collaboration and make improvement in
communication. It is helpful in develop positive relationship among the manager and staff
members. With the help of this exercise, each person will work in a team and communication
will be enhanced among them.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from above mention report that at workplace, behaviour of
employees plays a necessary role. Their main focus is on attaining the business objectives in an
effective manner. There has been studied about the various factors such as communication,
motivation, leadership etc. influence on employees behaviour. These all factors are helpful in
enhance performance level of business as well as staff members.
